So i just made a server in radminvpn - my friend joins in it - i open up "age of redemption" launcher - do some options in it before starting the actuall game (like making it pure vanilla or adjusting some enemy difficulty and or buffing the multiplier for exp etc.) - then i create a character in the game itself and launch the server afterwards (note that since its on "age of redemption" there will be a seperate campaign map for it so you will have to read how to install the mod on your own, its not hard by any means. You need to own a GOG or Steam version of the game, i prefer steam.) - then youre in a lobby and your friend should see your server and hopefully join it and then you may start.
Also not sure, but perhaps you need to check if the firewall is disabled or not for both of you, but i think i had it on so shouldnt be a problem on finding a server.
Have fun if it worked out

I actually got it working some how, using Hamachi, following some strange steps.
I forwarded this port 27960 all
and this hoodoo
On network adapters window.
1. Right mouse button on Hamachi Network Connections -> Properties
2. Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) -> Properties
3. Advanced...
4. Remove Default gateways
5. UnCheck Automatic metric, put 10.
I literally don't know what helped but this seemed to of worked for me.
EDIT: I am 99% percent sure that you also need to install DirectPlay (Turn Windows features on or off >> Legacy Components >> DirectPlay) and reboot.
Other than that a regular firewall exception (confirm the pop up when it pops up on first use) is enough.
No configuration on the router (port forwarding or so) were needed.
