Did anyone manage to get Multiplayer LAN to work?
As in the title.

I've been trying to get the game to work together with a friend, I've tried different programs including ZeroTier and the latest Hamachi.

We never managed to see each other in the main lobby after pressing Multiplayer>LAN or even after one of us created a room.

I'm dying to get this to work so we can both play it and hopefully with more people in the future.

If anyone managed to get this to work, please share the exact steps of how you did it, I'm sure it'll be helpful to many other people.

Thanks in advance.

I was using RadminVPN with a friend to join in into lan games, though i havent tried it in vanilla Vtm Redemption. The thing i went for was downloading a mod called "Age of redemption" which is made for co-op play.
So i just made a server in radminvpn - my friend joins in it - i open up "age of redemption" launcher - do some options in it before starting the actuall game (like making it pure vanilla or adjusting some enemy difficulty and or buffing the multiplier for exp etc.) - then i create a character in the game itself and launch the server afterwards (note that since its on "age of redemption" there will be a seperate campaign map for it so you will have to read how to install the mod on your own, its not hard by any means. You need to own a GOG or Steam version of the game, i prefer steam.) - then youre in a lobby and your friend should see your server and hopefully join it and then you may start.
Also not sure, but perhaps you need to check if the firewall is disabled or not for both of you, but i think i had it on so shouldnt be a problem on finding a server.

Have fun if it worked out
As of May 2020 I have two computers in my house that can play the steam version on LAN without any issues. Try opening your nat settings

Also just failed with Hamachi. Did port forwarding for 27960 on both machines, confirmed we could ping each other while on the VPN, but cannot see each other in lobbies. Added firewall exceptions for both AoR and VtMR but no dice.

Found this buried a few threads down - this got it working for me and a buddy.

I actually got it working some how, using Hamachi, following some strange steps.

I forwarded this port 27960 all

and this hoodoo

On network adapters window.
1. Right mouse button on Hamachi Network Connections -> Properties
2. Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) -> Properties
3. Advanced...
4. Remove Default gateways
5. UnCheck Automatic metric, put 10.

I literally don't know what helped but this seemed to of worked for me.

Thanks for all the answers, appreciate the help. Will try once I have some free time.

Apparently the port forwarding of 27960 is not required as well.

"UnCheck Automatic metric, put 10" did the trick on ZeroTier (or local network) for me.
EDIT: I am 99% percent sure that you also need to install DirectPlay (Turn Windows features on or off >> Legacy Components >> DirectPlay) and reboot.

Other than that a regular firewall exception (confirm the pop up when it pops up on first use) is enough.

No configuration on the router (port forwarding or so) were needed.

Does this still work? is this lan only or does it work for online play as well?

I was able to play it using ZeroTier to simulate local network with a friend in another country.
