Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption

Asked for CD-Key
So i've checked through the discussions already and there seems to be no clear cut fix for this.

I purchased Vampire through Steam last year due to one of the many sales.

I have recently installed the game, and as I go to start...you guessed it, I'm asked for a CD-Key.

Now even more bizarre is that when I right click the game in my Library there is no option for "View CD Key".

I have ran the register.bat file located within the steam game folder, and also the registry file. I have also set to Administrator and nothing has worked.

It'd be nice to play this game at some point, so if one of you kind folk has a fix/work-around that doesn't rely on using "alternative keys" I would be most appreciative.

Many Thanks :)

Seems like an odd problem. I did a fresh install after a reformat recently and haven't been prompted for a key. Maybe try an integrity check... a couple of times?

Doing my head in to be fair.

Could maybe slap some rabit ear antenna on your computer with some tin foil... maybe stand on your head? Perhaps a registry cleaner prog or use regedit to remove all vampire entries from registry before another install?

Done the registry clean and then reinstalled.

I did some looking into the RegisterGame.bat file. I noticed it called the vampire.reg file, which might actually include the key. Just open vampire.reg with notepad by right-click and choose Edit option. Copy the hex value and remove the commas from it. Could be that's the cd key you input into the game [without commas]. If that doesn't work, try actually removing the WON registry folder that this bat file puts into the registry using regedit. I didn't even use this .bat file and don't have the WON registry key in my registry. Game runs fine without it. At least for me...

[edit]

Seriously doubt the hex value will work at this point because I know the key on my cd copy only has 20 characters.

Same issue here O_o...what the hell could that be?

No idea.

I ended up doing a bit of cleaning up which resulted in me formatting my HD.

Re-installed Vampire and it works without issue, so god knows wth causes it to ask for a cd-key.

I tried good old google, saw a lot of people with the same problem but no fix...formatting the HD is a drastic fix to be fair lol

I really love VTM:R, but im not gonna format my hdd for this game... probably will just download a nocd crack.

A no cd crack isn't gonna stop you from getting a key popup. You need a key code generator. Not sure why Steam doesn't just provide a key like every other game.

@Javokis Yeah, i used key-gen at the end... BTW, love your work dude <3
