unable to launch game

dont know why this is occurring but the game literally wont start for me. it goes to full screen black like it does for masquerade, but then closes itself immediately. any idea as to why this is happening?

Right click on the game in your Steam library. Go to Manage > Browse local files. In the main Redemption directory, right click on the vampire.exe and go to Properties. Under the Compatability tab check the box beneath Compatibility mode and choose either Windows XP Service Pack 2 or 3. (If using Windows 7, you may also want to disable display scaling on high DPI settings.) Click the Apply button, then OK and try running the game. It should hopefully work.

thank you for your suggestion, but it unfortunately did not work, even when i tried launching it as an admin. i'm on Windows 10 and i haven't seen anyone else here have the same issue. very unlucky :(

Another thing you might want to try is to right click on the game in your Steam library and go to Properties. Click the SET LAUNCH OPTIONS... button and add -window to the field, then run the game. Hopefully that will help.

thank you very much! that actually did work. its very small now though (takes up about 1/5th of my 24" monitor) and the colors are very, very wacky and super neon. im really appreciative of your help though! i was super bummed because i thought i would have had to refund it and then never be able to play it.

Glad to hear it worked. Unfortunately I'm not aware of a fix for the discoloring in the game's menu (as I have the same happening with my install), but it doesn't affect your game play. If you're running the game on a widescreen monitor, grab Behar's Widescreen Fix at https://e-mods.net/ (download link is just under the Mods heading) and that should help fix the UI distortion.

Although the "-window" fix gets the game working, I can get to the main menu but there is no mouse pointer.

I had the same proble. I looked everywhere and finally came across dgvoodoo. I runned it with it and it works perfectly!

dgVoodoo 2 works great, especially if you're using ReShade.
