also, sword is the best weapon of all times. ;P
Difficulty I would say it's a little tricky often because your AI partners aren't too bright. Older games tend to be like that. Not super unforgiving but you can't expect much success if you rush in to plow through mobs... or expect your AI allies to NOT use their spells and drain all your resources.

It absolutely is not.
There's a section in the game which has enough enemies and no health, that you will not get through unless you approach combat strategically.
Flanking matter. Backstabbing matters even more.
Enemy might see one of your units, get aggro and charge - and STILL be surprised with backstab from another party member.
