How do drops work?

Curious if there is a guide that explains how to obtain specific items. I understand how to get the scarabs and morgaryll flowers; similar logic seems to apply to other items based on the map played/cauldron filled. But how do I obtain items specifically for hunter or witch? those pink mushrooms and button-shaped mushrooms for recipes? So far I have only got those through what I assume is solely random rewards.

Nails and Odd Mushrooms are used to craft Hunter and Witch-specific recipes, and are a rare drop on non-event maps. We have a channel named #crafting on discord.gg/witchit which explains everything in further detail!
