Do I need to play this game to watch Danganronpa 3 anime?

I really want to see all 3 arcs of Danganronpa 3- The end of Hope's Peak Academy, but I don't want to be confused because I haven't played this game. Should I wait 2017 Q2?

Not really, it will explain some things and just add on to the experience. Then again I have friends who only watch the anime and loved 3 anyways.

Same as MonoScopeTrash. The only time the game is referenced is in Future Arc. As long as you know the stories to the first and second game you should be good.

No, I've watched the animes and played the 2 previous games. This game adds some backstory to Touko / Makoto's sister. There is one episode (at the very end) that talks a bit about it but it doesn't spoil anything

Watching the anime without playing the 2 previous games is a no-no. It will ruin the entire experience (both anime & game)

I've cleared the first and currently playing the second so no prob! I just didn t want to wait for AE:UDG since I heard very positive reviews and comments about the anime

I think I heard of a Danganronpa 2.5 special episode somewhere. I don't know if it summarizes this game but it does follow the events after DR2 and before DR3.

It's a separate, very brief side story that has nothing to do with this particular game. I hope it's included when Danganronpa V3 comes to North America, though the NIS America website doesn't make mention of it, even on the limited edition versions for the Vita/PS4. Maybe it will be a part of the End of Hope's Peak High School anime when it gets released on physical media. For now, fansubs exist in the usual places on the Internet that will give you at least a rough approximation of what happens.
