nProtect just killed Moonlight Game Streaming for this game
since last weekend, the game has been patched in such a way that automatically disables all input if you stream the game locally using Moonlight.

That sucks - there is a 100% legitimate use case for Moonlight game streaming and it sucks to have that taken away.

Q. Will GameGuard interfere with programs like MSI Afterburner, or monitoring software like hwinfo64?
A. We don't know all the things GameGuard might react to, but we are actively whitelisting known good programs. If you encounter any issues with GameGuard killing a process that should be whitelisted, please reach out to our support team.

I've not used that program, nor do I have any insight into any additional capabilities a streaming software would have. However, if it's exactly that, I'm sure it would be easily whitelisted.

Seems like the most recent patches have caused a lot of issues with certain programs. Until they give us an update on the current issues with said programs, the above information is probably your best bet.

Are you using Nvidia Gamestream or Sunshine as the server? If Sunshine isn't running as admin and you focus on an admin-level window all the input stops (eg. task manager), it could be because of that.

"We dont know what this third party software will cause problems with, but we are gonna include it anyway."
Amazing, beautiful, you love to see it.

I'm using Sunshine to run mstsc.exe as a universal remote desktop; I then load Steam and start the game as normal. In my case, remote input stops working when the HD2 game client starts(or is maximized, if windowed) and resumes when the client closes (or is minimized). Input also works as normal when I play any other Steam game.

Based on this behavior I would be SHOCKED if nProtect GameGuard wasn't the culprit.

You sure? I'm streaming this game using Moonlight to my Legion Go. I even streamed yesterday.

why have Sunshine run mstsc?

Sunshine comes with a default app called Desktop which has an empty command field.

This sucks, but If you still wanna use Moonlight. Sunshine doesn't work. But able to play fine if you disable Sunshine, and enable Shield GameStream in GeForce Experience instead. You will have to connect to the same PC again, with another PIN that GeForce should give you. Also add "C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe" For desktop.
Haven't found a way to contact nProtect to whitelist sunshine, but hopefully someone from
Arrowhead Game will contact them on our behalf, but haven't seen them respond to this at all sadly.

Bold move of the dev sticky telling people they barely know anything about what they're installing on people's systems.

damn... they operate for such long time and they still didnt sort this crap out - I mean you would expect for the company who is in bussiness for this long to be updating whitelist of their program to prevent such shutdowns of legit software

It is common with developers that are captured by the ideological craze that believes they own their customers computers all in the flawed thought that they can prevent some players from using cheats.

The only moral and honourable way to curb game cheating in _competitive games_ is server-side metrics / big data analysis and anomaly detection as well as offering game clients an OPT OUT of all telemetry/tracking and playing "unmonitored" matches if they choose.

Anything else is an affront.

The developers of HD2 do not respect their customers and view them as vile vermin that need to be controlled and monitored constantly.

Is anyone using gamepad mode in Sunshine/Moonlight?
Pirateguybrush Feb 25, 2024 @ 7:42am
This really sucks - I was counting on Sunshine/Moonlight to get decent Steam Deck play from this
