I do play in Linux though, so I'm not sure if that might make a difference. The anticheat is a lot less pervasive in Linux. The Azeron has 2 onboard memory profiles, so once those are set using software (do this in windows), I can play Helldivers 2 all day in Linux with my Azeron with 0 issues.
That's one of the major issues with GG though, a lot of the software it ends up blocking is legitimate software that is needed for peripherals to function. If his Hydra doesn't have any onboard memory profiles which he can set (and then close the software) then it might not be an option unfortunately.
edit: Unfortunately the Hydra needs the programs open to work and cant store memory profiles. So unless its whitelisted he won't be able to play. Thanks again for the info.
