[PARTLY RESOLVED] GameGuard needs to go...

I have confirmed sound driver crash because of GameGuard. Also my PC stared to behave weirdly unstable today. Problems with SIVX64, a low level tool for monitoring hardware temperatures and I got black-screen of death, when I was simply rebooting Windows 10. All this after buying Helldivers 2 yesterday and installing the game with its game guard anti-cheat.
Before that my PC was perfectly stable and there wasn't any other software changes.

Omg, just replace GameGuard with EasyAntiCheat, which big games use and it which was tested on millions of configurations.
Gears 5, For honor, Fortnite, Halo, and more. Does that ring a bell to you?

Helldiver 2 should use EAC and not Lingage and Maple Story anti-cheat.

The game and GGuard were patched and no longer interfere with my sound card driver.
But GGuard does interfere with other software I have installed. These are minor app crashes, mostly user-space, no BSOD on my side.

Though SIVx64 app can be also used to control fan / pump RPMs, in that case it could pose a risk that cooling system would work with default and minimal RPM settings.

Nice. It doesn't get anymore cut and dry than that. I'll see if we can get it added to the list of issues caused by nPGG. OP of that massive topic is usually pretty quick to update the list.

Still can't fathom why this garbage was included. AH is shooting themselves in the foot every moment they keep it bundled.

The more we keep fighting back against it, proving that there are fundemental issues with this garboware, the higher chance we have of being able to get it removed completely or swapped for something more credible.

I'll also add on to the importance of logs. If people say "well, you don't have proof, they are just making this up" logs are a pretty good way to show these people that these are real problems.

Nahimic is also a pretty wide-spread audio driver.
I wonder if this might also relate to all the people reporting their headsets stopping to work.

Yep. Also nPGG has a 'feature' that blocks peripherals if it identifies it as a threat. This stops folks from attaching something to their computer that can circumvent nPGG's scans. The problem is, more often than not, the connected peripheral is legitimate. Like a bluetooth headset.

It's too bad this wonderful malware is straight up crashing the sound driver on top of that!

also you'd think something so intrusive would actually prevent cheating
i'm not saying there's a perfect anti-cheat, but for something to need such deep access to your pc you'd assume it would block everything

It works great for me now. Game and GGuard were patched and no longer interfere with my sound card driver.

I've just looked into crash logs, and GGuard interferes with Helldivers 2 own crash reporting tool. LOL. Oh well, I already got bored with this game anyway...
