I'm unaware of any banning taking place currently.

I expect the worst case scenario would be the anti-cheat detects the macro software and either kills the software or the game.

LOL, macro 'software'. Mine is all hardware programmable directly, though Arduino is easy-peasy, too. Gonna block players because they have a weather data logger connected? Only "approved" keybpoards and mice can play? Almost too easy to spoof.

Also, simply download the latest OFFICIAL Micro$oft PowerToys from GitHub to remap pretty much any key you want. Merry Xmas! What? They gonna block that official Micro$soft tool? LOL! Source is freely available anyway, so you can EASILY compile it with whatever code-bloat or obfuscating name you want.

would you get banned or just kicked from the game? or I'm guessing this anti-cheat probably just terminates process? is there an actual reporting process?

All I could find in the license agreement and I don’t know if macros can be included here:

"Do not use, make, or distribute unauthorized software or hardware, including non-licensed peripherals and cheat code software or devices that circumvent any security features or limitations included on or in the Software or take or use any data from the Software to design, develop, or update unauthorized software or hardware.

They can easily detect macros cos the timing of key strokes would always be the same and this question been asked on other game forums and always been answered with 1 keypress should only be 1 keypress
so i would not use macros.

It's unlikely.

There haven't been any statements either way, but there are plenty of people that are using macros without any problems.

As it isn't a competitive game I would expect them to take the view that macros are useful to people with accessibility issues and that allowing them is the better option.

the time i played hd2 i used macros all the time, their precious ac didnt do ♥♥♥♥ - so yes its useless

Actual cheaters aren't even getting banned, so I doubt it.
