GameGuard Had Been Causing Crashing Since Day 1
EDIT: With no antivirus changes GameGuard fails to read my antivirus process, but GameGuard does not crash the game. The logs generated at the time of crashing either could have been coincidence, or a change was made which is appreciated.

My game crashes every time I play, and we are on day thirteen. When I crash I open Event Viewer. A crash log for Helldivers 2 is generated with exception code five. Windows exception code five is an access violation. I open my antivirus, and look for a log generated at the time of the access violation. Two logs are created every time the game crashes. The actors are GameMon.des and GameMon64.des. Their target? My antivirus program. Please reconfigure your anticheat.

Raise a support ticket and include the logs and which AV you're using.

It is unfortunately very common to see anticheat software clash with antivirus software.

Try creating an exception for GameGuard in your AV. If not even this helps, the only solution might be to find a different AV software or just go without one entirely.

Have you never had to set an exception in your AV before? It's not a difficult thing to do, and GameMon(64).des clearly isn't something to worry about

You are... Joking, right? Poe's law is really getting to me in this forums for the past few days.

Yea, no.. It is the Anti-Cheat that needs to adjust, not the Anti-Virus solutions. You are out of your mind. The "Anti-Cheat" solution attempting to get its hooks into your Anti-Virus and causing collisions should be plenty of concern.

You don't remove protection to engage in activities with a courtesan, so why would you do that for your PC?

I attempted to add an exception for the whole GameGuard folder. The GameMon files still crash my game after attempting to read my antivirus' process memory. I play another game that uses nProtect GameGuard, and I've never had a crash or issue with that game in my life. This is a problem of implementation.

They really gotta remove this garbage from the game asap. It does not belong.
Rhydoc Feb 22, 2024 @ 8:13am
Even with the new patch I still get the can't connect to update server ♥♥♥♥. I got to play for 20 hours before it slapped me with the issue so no refund for me.

What AV are you with? I use Kaspersky + Windows Defender and have had no issues so far.

Because that form of protection is as simple as blocking everything. Antiviruses are near impossible to implement perfectly for every single use case, and the good ones work on a basis of better safe than sorry. If your antivirus pings a kernel level anti cheat for a game as big as HD2, it's more of a sign that your antivirus has an out of date database than the anti cheat being bad.

I'm not quite sure why you think the anti cheat is trying to tamper with the anti virus. That isn't how it works at all.

GameGuard might be tampering with AV. I think it injects itself to some processes, or redirects some system calls. It crashed my Sound Driver as well.

Just had a look at the post you linked mate, I can almost guarantee it's your sound driver. Nahimic is absolute garbage. You'll see all the issues people have had with it if you give it a quick google.

Your best bet is disabling the Nahimic service in the Services manager (search services in the start menu & it's the first result), uninstalling it, and removing any traces of it. Here's a guide on how to do so, as Nahimic is a POS that will constantly reinstall itself if you don't get rid of all of it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/MSI_Gaming/comments/l45fnj/guide_how_to_uninstall_nahimic_completely_from/

You can either do the steps in the guide or use an uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller or BCUninstaller to get rid of all the traces.

If you're concerned that your sound won't work after removing Nahimic, Nahimic is not your core sound driver, Realtek is. Nahimic is just a driver that allows for fine tuning your audio.

Dude, I'm not gonna even argue with you. Your knowledge about this subject is on a fourth grade elementary school level. And even that is an overstatement. You think you know something, but you really don't. With post like above you simply embarrass yourself. Nuff said.

You are truly the Bill Gates of this generation. Thank you for correcting me on my 4th grade knowledge, as tertiary education clearly didn't help me there. Enjoy your black screens and 'tampered with' antivirus

No. It is a sign that Nprotect is doing things that other anti-cheat solutions do not. Punkbuster, battleeye, EAC, etc? NONE OF THEM try to interact with the system beyond the game they are protecting and things trying to hook specifically into it. Nprotect is a LOT more invasive, and a basic google search would have shown you that.

Nprotect absolutely is a horrible piece of malware that is far more invasive than it needs to be, with a long history of documented problems and general ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
