How can I uninstall game guard?
As the title says. Does someone have knowledge of how to completely get rid of all files associated with the anti cheat as per Feb 2024? I unistalled the game but there were still a lot of files in the Helldivers Folder. I am wondering about all the files I cannot see. If you know how to do it/very it has been removed correctly any help is much appreciated.

It is uninstalled when you uninstall Helldivers 2.
If you want to confirm this, open up Services and look for "nProtect GameGuard Service".
If it isn't there, then it has been removed.

It does seem like some update files may get left behind in the game folder. These are harmless but if you want them removed then just delete the Helldivers folder.

Comment from the devs on it:
A. The administrator level anti-cheat service that is installed with the game is removed when the game is uninstalled (or gguninst.exe is run). However, we've noted that there are some remnant files left in the game directory in the Steam library folder. They can be simply deleted though as they're only previously downloaded GameGuard updates.

Why do you want delete the files?
Leftovers always remain after uninstallations. Simply delete the HD folder and you're done.

hey i just want some clarification, so did you delete the file with gameguard in it after or before you uninstalled helldivers 2? and can you play helldivers 2 without gameguard with no issues?
Astronimo Mar 14, 2024 @ 1:42pm
1) you can't play without gg
2) it's better to run uninstaller first, then delete the game

The files at the Registry level will still be there, you need to run Regedit and track them down, but you also need to not mess up while doing this, or your system may become corrupt. Arrowhead saying the files are deleted when the game is, is wrong, they just say that to try and ease players minds, and get sales.
Look up the lines you need to track down in your Registry, its a list of around 15-20.

there is an official nPGG uninstaller file in HD2 folder but if you didn't run it before you uninstall the game through steam it will be gone too, you can try the uninstaller from nPGG's site too.

as for if it work? i'm not sure

you can also tell a buddy who still has HD2 installed to toss u the uninstaller through discord or google drive too

What if I deleted the game already? Or how can I get rid of the left over registry files?

I mean you can technically "install it" however on launch the anti cheat installs, this cannot be helped.

However if you wish to circumvent the Anti cheat in a way its useless I'd recommend the Linux thread. Past that nothing can be done.

If you're worried I'd just play the game when you wanna play and remove it and the AC when you are no longer playing it constantly on the daily.
