Game Guard is great
1. whole batch of people complain about game guard and how it wont let them play or that they wont buy the game until its gone...
2. playing a multiplayer game on steam without moders and cheaters.

i guess game guard works and the people complaining are cheaters.

People aren't "complaining", they're fairly criticizing the unethical use of digital rights management software that openly abuses the security of the end user's PC in a game that's not in any capacity competitive, therefore there's no reason for it to be necessary.

Don't obfuscate matter's for which they're not. It's wholly unnecessary, not to mention wildly antagonistic.

I mean... you can literally bypass the anticheat with a generic CH trainer if you wanted to. It's objectively speaking, not working to prevent anything.

Therefore logically, you should use an alternate AC that works better, no?

The hardware issues, some might be unrelated but GG has had a history of this kind of things for many years, so I'm inclined to believe that at least some are true.

Those cheats aren't bypassing the anti-cheat.
Arrowhead screwed up and left in a way to delay the start of gameguard which gives people a short window to modify the Helldivers process.

And then when they patched it out, they didn't put any version check on the exe so people can just copy the unpatched one back in.

This is 100% an issue with their implementation of the AC, not the AC itself.

There's no reason for this game's anti-cheat to have kernel level access.
Stop being complacent to the dangers of data invasion.:healthvial:

Cheaters are still coming into games even with gameguard... so... right... you were saying?

and I would have jumped onto the game every hour I can, but at this point in time, having ended work and all... I'm not in the game because of cheaters ruining a PVE coop game...
ZimzamTimtam Mar 4, 2024 @ 4:20am
We only know about Mechs because cheaters cheated them into the game. Arrowhead has said nothing about them yet.

That anti-cheat sure is working well.

it is a PvE game and the gameplay is similar to Deep Rock Galactic which doesn't have anticheat , but you don't see cheaters there. you don't have to play with cheaters you can kick them or don't join their lobbies.

Oh there is, even now some people find a way to bypass it and troll others. Probably by using Linux install.

Only kernel level anti-cheat is somewhat efficient.

Easy Anti Cheat, or old PunkBuster also have kernel level driver.

"Probably by using Linux" lmao

Cheat Engine says hello. You people are embarrassing at this point.

For anyone else wondering, Deadlock here is the same guy that requested the Anti-Cheat section be locked down to only people who bought Helldivers 2.

This is just plain wrong. CH Trainers can hook in to the program AFTER it has already launched and reached the main menu. Infact, that's literally what the instructions for all of their trainers say to do.

By that point GG is already running.

Stop making nonsense claims to defend it and accept that it doesn't work. This is so painfully easy to prove that it's just insane you're even arguing about it.

I'm not the one making up "nonsense claims" here.

I'm not including everything as I don't know where the line for "advertising cheating" etc is, but it's easy enough to find.

From CH website for their trainer:

You need to place the following text

--<removed>

into the LAUNCH OPTIONS for the game in STEAM. If you plan to LAUNCH the game using AURORA, you will also need to put it in the TRAINER SETTINGS under GAME ARGUMENTS.

RENAME the file
<gameguard filename removed>

Launch the game from steam and as soon as you see AURORA says GAME RUNNING, you activate the trainer VERY QUICKLY, otherwise you will get a GAMEGUARD error.

So yeah, you amend a launch option and rename a file to delay the Gameguard service start time as long as possible.
And then hook into the helldivers process before gameguard starts.

Which is exactly what I said.

Also worth mentioning that the trainer has been blocked a few times already.

e.g.
After closer examination, we have come to the conclusion that the game devs have forced an update to the game's anti-cheat system that intentionally blocks Aurora and CoSMOS from accessing the game. Sadly the game must be RETIRED at this time

Glad to see them paying attention to it, but conversely this is incredibly basic stuff that shouldn't have ever been getting through the AC in the first place. Trainers that hook in like this have been a thing since the early 2000s.

It still shows that GG by default is awful and doesn't do it's job. The Dev's shouldnt have had to manually blacklist CEngine or basic dll hooking lol. They're not security experts and so will inevitably miss things which are less obvious.
