GG 'won't update', so I can't start the game

Game's been running totally fine since launch day until i tried to hop on yesterday. Gameguard popped up with an 'update error' and sent me to an outdated support link. I turned everything off, firewall/antivirus/etc. and tried to update again, and it wouldn't work. Looked up a million fixes online, none of them work. Uninstalled/reinstalled/verified everything, didn't work. Ran as an admin, whitelisted the folder on my antivirus, didn't work. Been trying to find a fix for 5+ hours. I checked the discord/other steam discussions and others have been having the same problem, but no one's found a common solution yet. Any advice? Wanna get it working before my friends hop on for the first time, since I'm the one who convinced them to get it and want to avoid an embarrassing conversation lol

Now i despise nguard cause of this but i did see someone posted a fix about some uninstall of nguard then run the game and it should install again

Yeah I tried that already. keeps downloading the GG folder back into the HD folder, but then goes straight back to the 'update failed' popup and still refuses to launch.

I seen quite a few people with the problem. Hope it gets the devs attention, but I feel like it's not widespread enough yet for them to do anything about it, so we might just be SoL.

Yeah I wasn't gonna get it either cuz of GG but being a bit on the less intelligent side I decided to go with it anyway. Hopefully there's enough of an uproar that they'll change to EAC or something, but so far they don't seem particularly interested in doing that. Just sucks that we got the timeline where they went with GG instead

For some reason I was able to fully update GG through the VPN while my home network was throwing up errors left and right.

I haven't, I'll see if I can give that a shot. Is their uninstaller the same as the one from the HD devs? Or should I download theirs specifically?

I didn't know HD devs made an uninstaller. I mainly chose this one since it did the job for me when it came to removing the Aika Online and PSO2 version of GG for me.

Update: After uninstalling GG and using a VPN to launch HD2 to redownload GG, it spit out a new error message: 'Fatal Error! Try rebooting or closing all programs that might interfere and try again.' So, didn't work unfortunately. Regardless, I appreciate everyone taking the time to help try and figure this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out so far!
