is the kernel level anti-cheat temporary?
is there a chance of the devs removing this. I want this game but I will not install kernel level anti-cheat in my system under any circumstances. im only going to play this game solo or with friends and i dont mind if they cheat as this isnt a competitive game.

The irony of calling people sheep while blindly listening to misinformation being thrown around so wildly is really funny to me. You people need help.

The irony wasn't lost on me either. The first reply is probably the stupidest post on the entire board right now.

He's right tho.

You have 275 hours in Arma 3 which uses Battleye, which is a kernel level anti cheat.

You're scared of something you've used for over 275 hours, and I bet I could find more games if I kept scrolling that use kernel level anti cheat that you already play.

You're scared of something you already have :steamfacepalm:

Edit:
LMFAO
You have 7 Days To Die which uses EAC which is also a kernel level anti cheat.

You are scared of a cold when you already have the flu twice. :zaglol:

read what you said and find where you included example or evidence. why do you even bother to post? what about what I said is misinformation? oh nevermind i thought you were talking to me

What you fail to understand is that it's the same song and dance every year.

Game is coming out people are hyped for -> Game announces anti-cheat people have been spoonfed that it's "bad" or "invasive" -> People freak out and blow it way our of proportion -> Nothing happens -> Repeat

The worst part is, it's always on the SPUF. Even redditors think you guys are always dumb for blowing this way out of proportion and that's saying something.

We don't know. The devs are ignoring and burying all the discussion and backlash over it. Despite saying two weeks ago on Reddit that they would change it if there was sufficient backlash. There has been more than sufficient backlash over it at this point and they are still refusing to acknowledge it. I really hope they do, I would love to play the game I bought at some point in the near future. And I would love for it to be Deck compatible too. But it seems like they aren't listening to the community and do not care about their reputation or doing right by their customers.

One way to do this would be to try finding ways of letting the thing run in it's own little box, and leave the rest of your computer alone. If wishes were fishes, I'd have a lot of fish rotting around me.

But has hundreds of hours in games that use Battleye and EAC.
They are lying to farm awards and you should just block them and move on because they clearly do not mean anything they say and should not be taken seriously.
like i said i didnt know easy was kernel level. i looked it up and it is, so im going to be using two different computers from now on. this computer was bought for the sole purpose of gaming and easy is too widespread. hell i was playing the isle when i made this post and that uses easy anti cheat. I guess we lost another battle for consumer rights

then disconnect from the internet and the world at large and go live in the woods. its alreayd to late for that

that being said its an anti-cheat. its not going to do anything horrible. even the tech bro's you people get this info from will tell you its fine

Tech bro here, It's not fine. Nothing that gets kernel access is fine. Any time a new piece of software gets kernel access, that's a potential point of vulnerability for your computer. Preliminary testing on my computer is pointing toward the anti-cheat software possibly causing some performance issues for me even when the game isn't running. It conflicts w/ most antivirus software. It's certainly not the end of the world, you're right that some of the outrage is overblown, but it's definitely not fine.
adual boot linux/ windows system would be safe from things like this right? or would i have to put them on separate storage mediums and somehow make it so they cant interact.

Even if it was 100% safe in their eyes cos they test on a few dozen rigs in the office.... these types of apps have a long history of causing instability on PC hardware and drivers etc security apps....theres just too many variations of PC setups to ever claim its legit or safe to install i, there already bugs int he game to worry about without doubling down on making it worse.

I can almost guarantee they haven't actually tested or put this software on any machines in their office. Because it creates serious vulnerabilities and breaches. They can't afford some malware bricking the PC's or servers with the game's code stored on it, and nor do they want the game's code stolen by someone through all the holes that nProtect creates. No smart business, especially one in the tech sector, would ever be putting software like this on the PC's they work on. Bet.

calling me a sheep is insulting. and i didnt know about the other games that do have it. as i said earlier i dont see a point in being inconsistent about this so im already looking into easy anti cheat. if its in basically all games then I will probably just have to get another pc and use two. one for only gaming and the other for everything else.
Easy Anticheat is far less invasive than NProtect, so there are tiers of anti-consumer practice here.
True, if anything they are cheap bastards for using nProtect instead of EAC

You are still around parroting big words without know what the hell you are talking about?

Is anybody paying you to be annoying and inflammatory on forums? Does it pay well? You seem to enjoy your job as a troll a lot

Also everybody can see your posts so I can see you spreading turds and fibs

You play 7 Days To Die which uses EAC; and it's one of your most played games out of the 1,200 you own.

EAC is kernel level. Stop being afraid of what you already accepted; and definitely stop trying to speak out against things you use.
