Gameguard causing crashes and 'hack attempt detected' for no good reason.
Many of the random crashes people are experiencing are obviously due to this terrible excuse for an anti-cheat. Most crashes are just straight to desktop but twice now I have had a 'Hack attempt detected' error message from GameGuard. The kicker is that I have no malicious software running. I even closed other third party software/apps like Razer Synapse/Cortex, Brave Browser, Netlimiter and several other *non hacking* programs before launching the game, which are all fine running with all of the other games out there and their anti-cheats. This is garbage. Replace it with a more competent anti cheat if you have too but stop hurting your paying customers with this rubbish.

It´s because this stup*d Gameguard detects even software that is Installed and NOT running as "hack attempt". This Software is utter trash and bricks, in the worst case, your whole System so that you have to completely reinstall Windows.

Thing is I don't have any software installed that should be a conflict on this laptop i'm playing on (it's almost a fresh Windows 11 install). I'd have been more concerned with my desktop as I have more software/programs etc. on that which has built up over the years.

The problem of Gameguard ist that everything for ex. a simple Driver for a Headset or a Mouse can cause such behavior. This AC Software is Not only useless, there are plenty hackers and cheaters alredy ingame, but can make your rig become a world class brick to build new Houses.

Thank you. Yes I did see that thread. For now this game can stay well away from my desktop.
I managed to play a few games now without crash/'hack attempt detected'.
I disabled 'Steam input' for controllers, disabled in-game Steam UI and added GameGuard folder to whitelist in Windows defender. No idea which of these steps stopped the issue (or if it is even stopped for good). Hopefully if anyone else has this issue they can try those steps. I still stand by that this is a sad excuse for an anti-cheat.

unholy hell
Well if it is doing what one thinks it is, then simply "turning them off" isn't good enough, you likely need to restart your pc and never turn them on so they aren't even in your history, try that if it works you know how much it is or isn't scanning.
