Mouse Not Working After Using Strategem Menu in Helldivers 2

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue in Helldivers 2 where the mouse stops working for aiming and looking around after using the strategem menu. Here’s what happens:

1. Enter a round.
2. Open the strategem menu.
3. Close the strategem menu.
4. Try to aim or look around with the mouse.
5. The mouse no longer works for aiming or looking around.

The mouse still works in the game menu, but not in the main gameplay.

Troubleshooting I’ve Tried (No Luck):
- Alt-tabbing out of the game and back in.
- Remapping the strategem menu key (e.g., from Ctrl to Alt).
- Verifying integrity of game files (one file failed and was reacquired).
- Switching to windowed mode.
- Testing with a different mouse (based on a Reddit suggestion: https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1hen9nu/mouse_not_responding_after_using_a_strategem/).
- No dice :(
- Uninstalling any hotkey-related software to eliminate variables. I normally use Streamdeck Mobile, but I’ve uninstalled it since this issue started.

Workaround (Temporary Fix):
The only workaround I’ve found:
1. Press the Windows key and open any other application.
2. Alt-tab back into Helldivers.
3. The mouse starts working again for aiming and looking around.

Obviously, this isn’t an acceptable long-term solution.

Is anyone else having this issue or found a better fix? Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.

My friend also has the problem. I believe everything you said is the same problems he has. He has an AMD Graphics Card and the strange thing is that if he changes the resolution, he gets a temporary fix (Until he opens the stratagem again of course)

Same issue. System is 7900X3D, RTX3080Ti... do no believe it's a hardware issue here. Razer mouse and keyboard, but even disabling Razer Synapse/Central showed no change. This only started occurring with latest patch. Changed the button for the strategem menu and still same issue, once I open the menu, freelook is gone... after a while of sitting around/or moving, it comes back... however as soon as I use the strategem menu again, freelock is disabled/locked.

I have a somewhat similar issue.. My up arrow key (forward movement) stops working when I close my stratagem menu (binded to the 1/end key on the numpad).. When I press the up arrow key again it works again.. This also started after the latest big content update, so I presume it's a game issue.. I also have your issue but then the mouse not working anymore in the menu's when on the ship.. Alt-tabbing out and back in fixes it.. Seems like Arrowhead has problems making sure mouse-keyboard controls work properly in this game and keeping them working properly..

I'm having the same problem. I had recently bought a new mouse and thought that was what was causing it. It's almost unplayable. I thought they would've fixed this by now..

Although, I've just read on reddit, turning off mouse smoothing stops it from happening. I've just turned it off, and it doesn't happen anymore.
