BLACK SCREEN, WITH SOUND OR BLACK SCREEN WITH PC CRASH TO DESKTOP

Hey fellow divers,

not only I cant connect but as of yesterday 18.02.2024 I cant get in game, it goes like this

upon launch I'm greeted with black screen, sometimes it crashes, sometimes it lets me sit staring at black screen, funny part audio is playing etc. I did mess with my graphic settings before this happened, I can run this on ultra easily, problem for me appeared when I switched graphic card ( not the actual graphics quality but the the card setting itself ) setting in game from left to right side, and then it happened upon exiting game I could not get back in..

some people write online that its due to servers, I have bad feeling I messed up by twitching settings.

I run on :

i5-12400F
RTX 4070 super
32gb ram
WIN 11 64bit

I did try to verify game files, but it didn't help, re-installed game issue still persists anyone who knows what might be the issue can you help ?


P.S also before this non-sense dropped on my head that I couldn't play anymore, I also had issue that I for some reason couldn't find games with actual players.

bare in mind that I did try to switch cross play and public and friends only options numerous times from on to off and re-launching game as online threads suggest, all fun and games but like 5 days ago I could play online with no problems and I didn't need to worry about dropping SOS signal etc.

you can try deleting your user_settings.config file found in the C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Arrowhead\Helldivers2 Folder. It's the file that keeps your graphics settings. It'll generate a new one when you next start the game. I had a similar issue with black screen on start and this fixed it for me. Hope it helps.

this worked for me. i have a slght hunch as to why it crashed in the first place, i ran the game at a low res for better frames(2500x1400) but then ultimately switched back to 3800 because it looked like poop. after that resolution change the game would just not launch. i tried that method above to erase user settings to default and the game launched perfectly.

after deleting file that is responsible for graphic setting save i managed to log in and actualy go online and play had to wait 4 minutes till i got on server so thanks and see you on battlefield.

Guys this works, I had to do it the other day and everything returned to normal.

i followed your directions went to home clicked on c, went to users clicked on mine but i dont have a appdata folder so i cant go to roaming folder to fix this....

Don't know if you know now or not, but an easy way to access appdata is to press your windows key + R and then put %appdata% into the box that appears
