if your CPU is able to go over 90c with liquid cooling, then there's something very wrong with your CPU's cooling and you should be worried, because even when stress-testing or crypto mining, your CPU should remain below 80c (even that is bit high). my CPU never goes over 55c with liquid cooling, usually below 50, only with hot weather it goes to 55c and i'm talking about while stress testing it to 100% load.
what tool are you using to measure temps? i saw some other topics along the same lines and i think that people confuse 100% with 100c. not sure how one can do that, but that would make sense, because other topics specifically mention 100c aswell. are you sure it's not 100% usage?
someone also mentioned that anti-cheat is blocking some tools (such as msi afterburner) and on some reason it gives false readings. use something simple like "core temp" to check CPU temps.
right now with room temp of 20c, my CPU temp is 22-24c. when under load, it goes to about 50-55c. core temp has never let me down, its simple minimalistic tool that also supports logging.
that said, i still havent been able to play HD2 as i'm getting that "invalid appid" error, but when i launch it, then i have to stare at black screen for about 2 minutes and it puts GPU under 100% load, while CPU remains below 30%.
just to be sure, take your PC side off and put your hand as close to CPU as possible, if it's really 100c, then you should easily feel the extreme heat coming from it. also touch the radiator and see if its hot. if everything feels normal, then most likely it's due faulty software that gives false readings on some reason, try using core temp or other tools.
Other than that the only possibilities are the CPU is borked and cooking itself which seems unlikely but not impossible or the game is cooking the CPU. Note everything else is running at normal temps. It's just the CPU that skyrockets at launch. I'll edit the post with the results of a new liquid cooling system on the 20th when I get it.
Solution:
Limit FPS in nvidia control panel. Someone posted that this game has no FPS limit so it will go to infinity.
I limited my FPS via nvidia settings to 144 FPS and set V-Sync to "On" for Helldiver2.
Just played 4 missions with no problems.
Otherwise check your FPS with Fraps or similiar!
Hope it helps.
