Bad Sound Quality with Bluetooth Headphones

Hey team. I noticed a freaking crazy problem. I have a Bluetooth headphone (Sennheiser Momentum 4) that I use to play a lot of games.
These headphones have a good sound quality when I play a lot of games but Helldivers seems to connect my phone as a Hands-Free quality, I know this because the quality is very poor for bass sounds even the voice is very bad.

When I connect through the detachable cable the quality it's hugely different, very crystal clear (as supposed to be) but this type of sound just works with cable.
I couldn't find anything about the type of sound equipment in-game settings, just the equalizer system.

Is there a way to guarantee that the system connects my headphones with the best quality sound?

On my PC I already disabled the Hands-free function, so Windows just recognizes the Best Quality of my headphones for music, games, etc.
In Windows Sound Settings I put (not allow Windows application use this device for audio) in the Hands-Free option

Hey, just out of interest, what headphones are you using? And how have you managed to use BT headphones for both input and output audio without losing quality or are you using headphones with 2.4GHz receiver instead of Bluetooth? To my knowledge, Bluetooth can use only 1 channel, so you either get good quality audio and no microphone or terrible quality audio with microphone.

And I am on this with you, Helldivers should 100% fix it properly. The thing I have posted is just a fix that doesn't need to be applied after every restart (like some people posted before). I know few people, that tried to find ANY solution to be able to play with BT headphones (they ended up using the method with disabling Telephony, which resets after restart)

1. Right-click on the Bluetooth Icon (windows bar --- the right side of the screen)
2. Open Settings
3. In the new screen go down until you find: More devices and printer settings (must be the last option in the group: Related Settings)

5. Double-click on it and go to Hardware TAB
6. Search for the device that has a hands-free) indication and the type column it's (Sound Controler, Video, and other stuff. --- Select this device and click on Properties

ATTENTION HERE -- My computer shows two hands-free devices, one had Hands-Free AG and the other did not. The AG hardware type column had only one piece of info: (System Device) --- don't disable this one... go to the other one.

If yours just shows one, go ahead and try :D (If you don't receive sound anymore, just go to the same settings and enable the drive again and reboot the PC)

7. In the Properties Window, on the general tab, click on Change Settings (it's a button above the OK button)
8. Go to the Driver TAB and click on Disable Device

Here maybe the system will notify you that need a restart.
Save all your pages and stuff and then reboot your system.

If you do everything as I mentioned, probably your system will start without any problem, and nothing will change. Go to the game and try to listen.

OBSERVATION: In my case, I have a table microphone and use my headphones just for good sound quality. So I never used the built-in mic for PC software, so if you need maybe you can't disable I don't know but I recommend that you try to test it.

I also validated the Windows Sound Settings to guarantee that everything it related to Hands-Free and If had I recommend that you disable it also.

This worked for me, but slightly differently (Sony WH-1000MX4). Right click it on the Bluetooth quick bar to go to setting, choose devices, then more devices and printers at the bottom. Double click to open the device, then go to the services tab and untick Hands-free Telephony.

This worked for me. I changed it on two headphones like this by unticking the service. I didn't do the Driver option.

I'd suggest start with the Disable Service first and failing that try the Driver option.

My advice, use this as a bluetooth, CREATIVE btw5, I use it and don't have any issues, I can even charge it connected to the PC and don't lose any quality
But when using a normal bluetooth, dam the quality sucks (forgot the bluetooth pen at work)

I figured it out when I stumbled on this thread. I am using a wired Logitech G635.

I went to sound settings and clicked on the "Playback" tab.

Then right click on the device (headphones) you're using.

Go to properties and click on advanced tab.

Then cilck on default format selection (I was on telephone quality previously) and select DVD quality.

Audio should be good
If that does not work, keep testing on each format until the audio is good.

for me its even weirder i have a Anker Bluetooth Boost 2 speaker which works perfectly fine with EVERYTHING else but this game. The game simply cant adress it at all , yeah these speakers also have a tape recorder quality hands free microphone ..but i cant even get an output in the game at all despite changing around all the devices etc in windows 11 sound setup, it will always play on my rear motherboard audio jack where i have to use headphones to play the game :). No other game (that i currently play, which is around a dozen well known titles) does this to my system ^^

I have it happen on two different headsets on both my laptop and my desktop so its not an isolated problem or due to my equipment. ZERO issues on ANY other game. I wonder if that anti cheat applet is causing it honestly.

same issue here with both my sony heaphones as sony earbuds.... also disabled the mics in windows and in other games this solves the issue, but indeed in helldivers 2 it stays using the low bitrate headset drivers

actually this is the only real working fix, because with the other options after restart the handsfree gets enable every time again.

How did you get this working? All it does is perma sound stuttering :( Have the same headphones.
