CPU Overheating instantly on startup
I was playing helldivers all day today and randomly it crashed. Since then Everytime I launch the game my CPU temp hits 100 degree's instantly, CPU fans going crazy etc. Any1 find a fix or experience something similar?
Cpu Load is at like.. 5-10% not sure whats going on
No other game is doing this and even more graphically intense games I can run just fine at like 60-70 degrees.

Ive updated drivers, reinstalled, verified files, restarted computer to no avail.

Intell i7-12700k
RTX 3080
(computer is about a year old)

***EDIT:***
So, turning off L-connect, and EVGA precision has caused the game to run fine. So it seems like the game does not play nice with these type of programs. I havnt gotten passed the login as the servers are full... but that SEEMS to be the problem.

2nd EDIT(Solved?):
I got in and played for like 4-5 hours after closing L-Connect and EVGA precision. That was defiantly the issue. Hopefully this gets fixed in a future patch however.

speccy is showing my cpu going 100c but msi afterburner shows my temps hovering between 45-60c ingame. i know i can trust msi afterburner but i also dont want any permanent damage if there is actually something going on lol. its definitely gameguard or something in the latest patch that's screwing with a lot of things it seems.

Good way to confrim this too would be exit out of helldivers and try playing other games that dont have these weird issues and see if the 2 readings are within range of each other, just to make sure that Speccy and your MSI afterburner is working correctly.

Maybe using a anti cheat software tahts only been used in cheap gotcha style games, and long dead eastern MMOs was not a good idea...

I have the same issue. CPU is going instantly to 100 degrees Celsius according to L-Connect. It happens only with this game, I don't have any issues with other games maxed out.

I also need to mention that 2 days ago I didn't had this issue. So most likely one of the recent updates messed that up.

Ive noticed that L-Connect comes up in a lot of discussions about these temps. I also had the software. Some report uninstalling it helped but it did not for me.

Using Msi afterburner to monitor the temps showed that the cpu was perfect (between 45-60°c) so im guessing that its somehow sending a false temp report to certain apps like speccy and L-connect

ive tested it on wow, tekken, apex and minecraft for a bit playing around. its just HD2 that's having this issue. may be speccy and other programs doing a false reading while MSI afterburner shows normal temps for gaming. i guess i can go with my gut and trust msi afterburner but seeing that 100c really disrupts the peace of mind, especially if you wanna stream HD2 for friends and dont want any damage to your pc lol

If your cpu goes up to 100 c with any software then that is a hardware issue you need to solve, you do not have adequate cooling. You should do a stress test on your cpu to see if it passes, and it should run at less than tjmax which for intel is 100 C. In example my cpu goes up to 85 c in a stress test which is fine.

So if speccy and Afterburner are showing the same temps on every other game OTHER then HD2, its gameguard.

Gameguard is probably blocking it because it sees it as a threat.

now the question is if it's safe to play when its showing those readings and just trust msi afterburner's reading or wait to see if they revert/put out a new patch cause this game is pretty addicting and im upset its having this many issues lol

i found the fix for me, just kill in task manager all the fan software like MSI afterburner, riva turner, L Connect etc. Seem like the anti cheat software doesnt like it
djutopia917 Feb 16, 2024 @ 6:56pm
Same problem here, CPU hits 100C immediately. Definitely has to do with the anticheat, not the game. Did some testing and was able to get anti-cheat running without helldivers running and my CPU was still at very high usage @100C. New issue that I didn't have until yesterday. Running 13700k and 4070 on a semi-new build with a 360 AIO so thermal paste and cooling capacity definitely shouldn't be an issue

is problem of path 1.000.0008 before dat all was fine.. after all fan go to max and cpu is 100C or program think is at 100C.. and no i dont shut down the fan program.. or i risk to burn my pc...
PunchBro Feb 17, 2024 @ 6:37am
So this seems to affect only Intel CPUs?
Vaskizas007 Feb 17, 2024 @ 7:29am
HEY day 17 /02/2024 and the problem is the same....my pc sound like a plane but only on this game..... Running 13700k and 4070 ti......
Rooyan Feb 18, 2024 @ 9:01am
So i have this issue, If i open L connect it shows my CPU Temp at 110c and all the fans kick in to max etc etc. If the cpu was 100c+ the system would shut down. If i open task manager it shows my CPU temp at around 60C. guess the game just doesn't work well with L connect
gtx 4080
13700k
lian li 360mm cooler
9 lian li fans
cooling isnt the issue

same issue here

Edit - Deleted L connect 3 and reinstall v 2.0.9 and its fixed it
