CPU Overheating instantly on startup
I was playing helldivers all day today and randomly it crashed. Since then Everytime I launch the game my CPU temp hits 100 degree's instantly, CPU fans going crazy etc. Any1 find a fix or experience something similar?
Cpu Load is at like.. 5-10% not sure whats going on
No other game is doing this and even more graphically intense games I can run just fine at like 60-70 degrees.

Ive updated drivers, reinstalled, verified files, restarted computer to no avail.

(computer is about a year old)

***EDIT:***
So, turning off L-connect, and EVGA precision has caused the game to run fine. So it seems like the game does not play nice with these type of programs. I havnt gotten passed the login as the servers are full... but that SEEMS to be the problem.

2nd EDIT(Solved?):
I got in and played for like 4-5 hours after closing L-Connect and EVGA precision. That was defiantly the issue. Hopefully this gets fixed in a future patch however.

Same. I'm about 10 hours into the game and this is the first its happened. Mine didn't crash. I just shut it down to go for a walk. Came back, started it up, and immediately my CPU was pushing 100 degrees. Some reddit posts suggested changing your frame rate cap in the nvidia control panel - I tried that at a humble 60 fps and I was still getting 100 degree temps.

same here, I have had no issues until I tried to play today, my CPU temp spiked and it hit 100 C, I tried playing other games and only HD2 does this

if your CPU temp hits 100C, then your PC is broken. nothing to do with game, CPU should NEVER go above 70C in any PC, some laptop CPUs might hit 90c, but that's really bad and you should get a cooling pad to put under laptop.

short version: any PC is designed to operate under 100% load without overheating, if any component in PC overheats, then you need to check for hardware faults (unless you play in 40c+ room temps, that might be an issue).

even when running stress testing / benchmarking or crypto miners on CPU, it should never go above 70c.
i've built all my computers myself and i hate seeing even 60c+, my CPU is usually 45-50C while under max load, however i have liquid cooling.

i strongly suggest stop using any programs that put load on CPU and open it up and make sure that CPU cooler is properly attached. on one of my motherboards the CPU cooler bracket broke and CPU cooler was loose enough so temps went over 50 even in idle, which is when i realized something is wrong.

if your CPU cooler is properly attached, get some quality thermal paste (look up some charts on which one is better) and re-apply thermal compound.
best way is to put one bigger drop in middle and 4 smaller ones near corners, then push CPU cooler on top of it and do not re-adjust. don't forget to properly clean off the old thermal paste before applying new one.

also make sure your pc case has proper airflow (more fans is not always better, good airflow is what matters, having 1 fan in front and 1 in back is much better than have like 4 in back or top).

My pc is 1 year old, and no other game is doing this. I keep my computer clean and have a beastly noctua cooler. Im seeing quite a few people saying the same thing on reddit and steam, same story as mine. Randomly the game is slaming cpu temps.

Update!!

I found a fix that worked for me that is worth a shot, I closed out of my software that controlled my fans and it seemed to fix the issue? hopefully there will be a patch soon to actually fix it

The PC thinks the CPU temp is 100C immediately upon game start. I play other games without this issue. Something to do with this latest update on this game specifically. Like how the game New World was killing 4080s and 4090s graphics cards due to inefficient coding

I7-12700k run at 48 to 55 c in game RTX 4080 55 to 62c in 1440p native ultra so not the game the problem

I have exactly the same problem, you are NOT ALONE!!!!! I don't know how to solve this problem (

I have the same issue. CPU is going instantly to 100 degrees Celsius according to L-Connect. It happens only with this game, I don't have any issues with other games maxed out.

I also need to mention that 2 days ago I didn't had this issue. So most likely one of the recent updates messed that up.
nag Feb 16, 2024 @ 5:14am
we need to somehow reach out to the developers... maybe they will fix the problem in the next update
Kidney Feb 16, 2024 @ 5:19am
MY CPU just starts makin a lot of noise as soon as i start up this game...i never checke the temps cause my pc was working fine for over 20 hours straight in this game
And dude different types of CPU have different optimal operating temperatures
A AMD CPU will most likely always have a higher operating temp than a Intel CPU
Also AMD works best at higher temperatures ( 80C, maybe this has changed in the last 10 years, but saying ALL CPUs have to stay under 70C is bogus
And if only 1 game, and no other tools/games are causing the CPU to overload/heat, doesnt mean that there is broken hardware, doesnt mean there isnt either but giving an ultimatum without even considering "a just released game" is causing this, is braindead.

Does it go to 100% load or 100°C as in temperature, 2 completely different things?
cause if your PC isnt shutting down at 100°C then you have a big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem, and i advise to not run the game anymore until its resolved

Every mainboard's security measures should kick in if CPU reaches 100°C and shut down automatically.

The problem is specifically in the latest update, there is no such thing in any game
Kidney Feb 16, 2024 @ 5:26am
press the windows button then type in " CMD " then right click and start as admin, there type in sfc/scannow
There is such a thing :D

Restart PC and repeat, restart again
then start the game
