Noticed this as well. Would like to know what the reason for it's existence is, seeing as the game makes it again on launch after deleting it

.jfm files are generally temp files created by stuff like windows/Visual Studio etc. Any program I tried using to read it couldn't identify any readable data. There's like 5 or 6 hex lines, which isn't much at all.

I did find out that Java generally uses .jfm format.

My uneducated guess is that it is server related, most likely by GameGuard. *shrug*

My Helldivers 2 game sometimes crashes. I just checked event log and it is gave this warning about that file.
services (1912,D,35) Flush map file "c:\dp.jfm" will be deleted. Reason: ReadHdrFailed.

jfm is a visual studio file format (software development kit) , so there is a component of the game or the anti cheat that writes in that format encrypted data into the file. That file is present on my C: as well ,but i had no crashes so far ...albeit i havent been able to play more than 1 or 2 hours at all so im not ruling out that i might get crashes too some day.

Frankly its extremly bad behaviour by applications to write to root directory, that should be avoided and reserved for absolutely necessary system files.

Yea that's why i was hoping this post will more traction and maybe the devs will do something about it.

Same here.

This dp.jfm showed up on my local disk and I was searching for what it is and should I delete it?

I haven't had any crashes.

Deleted it today and I could launch the game into ship without any problems. Did not try further, and only tried 1 time as the servers are wonky atm.

That file appears everytime you boot the game doesn't matter how many times you delete it :)

Imagine running in elevated privileges and doing nothing other than ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ directly inside the root of the C:\ directory instead of using AppData, or, at least, Documents. Arrowhead (or Sony, if it was their decision to enforce one of the most hated "anticheats") really needs to be called out for that.

doing some interweb searching it seems that file also randomly appears when playing HellDivers 1, it may have something to do with the game engine.

I opened the file in notepad and it's in some kind of weird symbol language I don't understand. When I tried translating it to Vietnam the only words that actually come up are "English" and "Bye Bye"
