Helldivers 2 Kills my internet connection
Please note - I'm not saying I'm JUST having connection issues with friends in Helldivers, I'm literally watching my internet connection die minutes after loading the game.

I'm perfectly able to play any other online game, watch YouTube/Twitch, use VC in Discord. However the moment I launch Helldivers 2, my (wired) connection to my router shows No Internet and I lose access to everything. Closing Helldivers restores my connection.

I've tried the (few) troubleshooting steps I've found online (Firewall rule updates, temp disabling my Firewall, etc) and nothing sticks. I'll be fine for a few minutes, but 10-15 minutes into a match I'll suddenly lose all network connectivity and Disconnect. I'm even getting DC'ed from my VC in Discord.

Has anyone else had this issue? The game worked excellently with 0 crashes and almost no DCs up until today, and now I can't play at all.

I also have been having this issue. Tried a couple of the fixes I found online like making the channel width 20GHz, verifying game files before every start, and allowed inbound and outbound connections on port 443. Not really sure what else to try.

I'm also having this exact issue. Has anyone found a fix yet?

same. Opening ports did not fix. I've never had a game nuke my entire internet before.

I keep seeing supports posts about this same issue and it's not in the sticky as known issues. Maybe if 100000000000000000000 people complain about it they will acknowledge it's an issue. It's annoying. i was able to play the game no issue.. suddenly last week I tried on 4/19 and I have this issue... tried every possible known fix from my end and nothing works. Then yesterday it worked! played all day... this morning it don't work. Same exact issue.. connection error.. windows event telling me my network adapter is not functioning properly etc.. Too many people having this issue for it to be drivers or some pc level issue. The problem is with the game or the game servers and I wish they would address it.

This game uses peer to peer traffic, which some ISP interfere with by using things such as "traffic shaping".

I would advise checking your ISP for any relevant info on specific settings for games, such as port forwarding.

I have actually done port forwarding on it.. one of many things I tried... it worked with no issues for over a week... then it don't.. then it did for a day.. then it don't... i'ts incredibly inconsistent

Traffic-shaping is an issue, in the sense that it causes variable extra response-times for otherwise perfectly forwarded packets. But the connection to the router is not going to freak out because of traffic-shaping. So you're likely using upnp or some rule-mapping workaround that Helldivers 2 is using, and that's what is causing a drop or a reconnect to the router after the number of connections is high enough.

You can circumvent the problem by manually forwarding ports that Helldivers 2 is using. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3156517659

And it really shouldn't happen if you have done it correctly.

So more or less.. to avoid the router going crazy trying to block incoming and outgoing packets. It shouldn't really be a problem any more, but.. you know.. ISPs saving pennies on using the ARM-chipset with 256kb cache instead of 1Mb.. So the connection table is full if you stream netflix, have a torrent running, and try to do one more thing.

I've had this issue as well shortly after purchasing the game in march, it seems to be a bug or issue related to Game Guard. i came across a solution that had you delete a few game guard files, then verifying your gamefiles and that did it for me, however i don't remember where i came across this fix or which files to delete, and now i can not find it anywhere.

CONSTANTLY having this issue - it not only kills my connection to the game but my router goes into a poor network state and all devices on the router lose connection. I've never in my 20+ years of gaming have had a single game take down a home network like Helldivers 2 has done.

Like it was said, while playing a few minutes steam says disconnected and Windows alert shows network connection lost(at least you can now play "offline", you can only hope the connection is back online, while finishing the mission).
While solo is ok, you can forget multiplayer because you get kicked when losing the connection, also losing discord Vocie-chat.
I am connected over ethernet to a router(that connnects to the modem) and also tried wifi directly to the modem, game kills both connections. Strange my main-pc is connected to the same router with no problems while playing. Both Asus-MBs Main PC is on Ryzen 7xxx with Nvidia GPU(40xx) Windows 11, Second PC(Problem-Child) is Ryzen 3xxx with nvidia GPU(30xx) Windows 10. I also tried port forwarding, verify game-files with no success. 2 days ago (28.06.2024) i could play a long mission with no problems.
Today(30.06.) steam and game-disconnect messages in intervalls of 10 to 15 minutes.

I was wondering what hardware is used by the people here with the problems?
Maybe everybody with the problem here uses Win10 and updating to W11 would solve it or its all on AM4-Mainboards(remembering the USB-cutouts at the start of ryzen 3XXX release)

Got this issue after the patch, not only it applies to my router connection, but I tried using my phone as a hotspot to test it, and the same thing happened, even my phone's internet stopped working until I closed the game

I do not have this issue THIS bad, but since around the 30th July I can not connect to the game anymore. ALL tips and tricks did not help and the issue only affects Helldivers 2 - all other games and programs work without any issues whatsoever.

I would like to add (if no-one has yet)
-Define which program that can use this rule.
(Make rule - open rule - go to program and services - select the (file).exe

But yeh.. this is so bad design, it should be implemented auto like other games so you dont risk opening for un-wanted access, but ey - what do i know
