HELLDIVERS™ 2

HELLDIVERS™ 2

View Stats:
Game crashing on almost every mission.
I can sometimes go entire missions without crashes and other times it'll be like 4 missions straight of crashing. Have had easily over a dozen crashes today. About 1/3 of crashes generate a report form and an even on reliability history (most of which show exception code c0000005 if it registers as a helldivers crash, or Livekernelevent 141 if it registers as a windows crash [sometimes it will show both]).

What I have tried so far:
1. Verify game files
2. Update windows
3. Update graphics drivers
4. SFC (System File Checker)
5. Window Memory Diagnostic
6. Reducing overclock (factory overclock settings on an acer laptop, not custom overclocks)
7. Disable fullscreen optimizations
8. Setting the game to run as administrator

Nothing has so much as reduced the frequency of the crashes.

One thing that could be tried but I have not is disabling Data Execution Prevention. However this also requires dis-abling UEFI secure boot and both those features are good for preventing ransomware (*cough* GameGuard *cough* *cough* [please note that this is an opinion that is not expressly proven, nProtect GameGuard is a Rootkit that can cause compatability issues and has an imperfect reputation and I will not run it on my system without things like DEP and UEFI secure boot enabled]). But if anyone wants to give it a try it is a fairly strong contender if you have the same exception code as c0000005 is an access violation code meaning the problem may be DEP preventing something from being accessed that the game may be trying to use in that moment.

Additionally, I have noted some frequent events that seem to often cause the crashes:
1. Someone leaving
2. Dying (I suggest taking the shield generator pack as doing a mission without dying seems to improve chances of not crashing)
3. Extraction (everything about it, when the shuttle lands when someone boards, when it goes to take off)

If anyone has other methods to try to fix the crashing please add it to the comments.

Good luck Helldivers and remember "Return, refit, and redeploy to purge the stain of this failure with the peroxide of victory."

If you are running an amd gpu-- I have had non stop crashing with my 7900xtx. I finally got it to work with the game today by dropping my clock speed down to 2400MHz and the power down by -10%. Since then, I haven't had a single crash. Keep in mind, nothing at all fixed it prior to underclocking. I had tried everything.

I am on a nvidia system, but I know that AMD supposedly has had some drivers issues with the game already and its likely that is still the case, best I can recommend is watch for new driver version release and try reverting other changes to see if it helps. Might be in the same boat for nvidia too at this point.
You have probably already tried but if not and you are playing on steam you can try using a command line to force the game to use directx11 as I have seen some people claim that dx12 causes issues on their AMD systems for HD2.
