CPU temp over 90 degrees + random shutdown
I got this game a few days ago, and gotta say I love it, it's loads of fun and thanks to ArrowHead for making this game.

That being said, I'm unable to really enjoy it to the fullest extent. I started off on high settings when I experienced my first random shutdown. After I lowered my settings I had a better time, but had two more shutdowns, each happening during the mission loading and ending phases.

After reading some other posts, some suggested to lower DLSS to performance, which seemed to solve the problem, but things look incredibly blurry taking away from the awesome experience. It's better than nothing, but since my system can handle better graphics, I feel like I'm missing out.

I later noticed that when I play Helldivers, my CPU temp skyrockets! The general temp seems to be between 80-90, which I know a CPU can handle, but this is the only game that pushes those temps. During the loading screens as mentioned before, it goes well above 90 and I believe it triggers the 100 fail-safe that shuts my laptop down.

After the fourth shutdown, I couldn't get my laptop to boot until a good amount of time had passed, making me worried to even play this game from this point on. I cannot imagine that multiple fail-safe triggers can be good for any system, thus I'm hoping someone here might have an answer, or at least the devs can look at this and consider an investigation.

If anyone else has had this problem and know of some solutions, please let me know. I'm passed the point of a refund due to time invested playing, but honestly, I don't want to refund, because this game is awesome. I just don't want to lost my gaming system for the sake of one game.

"The general temp seems to be between 80-90"

This is your problem. Your temps should be between 50-75 at all times. Anything above 80 is literally damaging your system. Either get a better cooler, a weaker CPU, or just buy a console if you can't take care of your PC parts properly.

Also, gaming laptops are HORRIBLE for overheating; get a PC.

You could try loking yor fps via drivers, that usually works.

You could try locking your fps via drivers, that usually works. Also remember that the lower the resolution, the more your cpu has to work so lowering resolution with supersampling will get your cpu hotter sometimes.

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't thought about lowering the resolution, so I'll give that a shot. I limited my frames to 100, but I'll attempt 60 as well. Either or, I hope this is an issue that can be addressed. Hot parts are one thing, but shutdowns are not normal at all, especially since it seems that many people are affected by it.

Just an update. I played again today with the adjusted settings and I'm happy to state that I've had no random shutdowns, or any kind of crashes.

I've managed to bump up the graphics settings to max, so the quality look way better. This also includes my DLSS on native.

The main contributor to the problems seems to be FPS and resolution, so the safest spot seems to be 60fps and 1920x1080 res.

These settings alone dropped my temp by between 15-20, especially during the loading screens. I still get high temp, but that's just gaming laptops for you. Trust me, I'd love to have a desktop PC, but right now it's not a practical option for me.
