Game crashing - out of ideas
Hi all,

I'm hoping that someone is able to help... The game has been unplayable for me for a couple of months now and I'm completely out of ideas why. I've reached out to Arrowhead Games Support who basically said to ask the community for help so... here goes...

Details of the Issue:
  1. Crashes to desktop/locks up PC, typically during mission transitions (loading into or exiting) but it can happen at any time.
  2. Recently I have occasionally and temporarily been able to load into games but when I do everyone keeps getting kicked from my party, so I basically end up playing solo. I've also once got a weird error saying I have trouble communicating with server which makes me think my hypothesis (below) is probably right...
  3. I'm often rubber banded back to Super Earth after the crash.
  4. Suspected cause: GameGuard malfunction.

Steps Taken to Resolve the Issue:
I have tried the following troubleshooting measures without success:
  • Deleting and reinstalling the game multiple times (including registry files).
  • Deleting and re-adding the GameGuard folder.
  • Verifying game files.
  • Clearing out background processes.
  • Updating my GPU drivers.
  • Adjusting graphic settings, including disabling anti-aliasing and SSGI, setting all settings to low, and running the game in compatibility modes.
  • Switching between DisplayPort and HDMI, as well as changing monitors.
  • Running stress tests on GPU and hardware—no faults were detected, ruling out hardware issues.
  • Configuring NVIDIA Control Panel to limit FPS to 60.
  • Ensuring PhysX is set to GPU, not CPU.
  • Adding the '--use-d3d11' string for launch
  • Disabling image scaling.
  • Downloaded and repaired the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4

My System Specifications:
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 4080
  • SSD: Lexar NM790 2TB
  • RAM: Unknown LD5EU016G-6400LA 2x16GB
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B650M GAMING WIFI

I have previously reached out to GameGuard support with logs but have not received any response.

All you described are internet related issues, most likely caused by your ISP or faulty network device.

You could try the tips here

But you have better chances by testing another connection method aka via mobile data e.g.

Thanks for your response and your helpful guide. I've now also tried:-
  • running an SFC Scan/repair
  • clearing Steam download cache / disabling shader pre-caching
  • disabling in-game overlay
  • disabling steam cloud
  • tried loading the game from a mobile hot spot

When I loaded from my hot spot the game crashed on start up, as per usual but when I restart my PC the following link automatically loaded up.

The only thing I can think of as a background app / something that's running during the game that might be causing problems is Opera but that seems unlikely?

Can I assume you not only deleted the Game guard folder but also uninstalled it cleanly and reinstalled it?

Does the issue persists with DEP and UAC deactivated?

Could you additionally share a DxDiag report so we could exclude any other issues, such as Asus hardware and software typical issues?

A new DxDiag report would be preferable if the Arrowhead support with your latest one.

Yep I've tried the uninstaller/reinstalling GameGuard but also deleting the folder and going back and doing a clean install.

I haven't tried DEP and UAC will give that a try later.

DxDiag report here[easyupload.io].

Huh. According to your DxDiag report it does not say Helldivers 2 is causing issues, but rather an app of yours which came with the mainboard. Easy Tune. It seems to interfere with your system's stability by trying to overclock the CPU, leading to several issues with Windows - might be related to the latest Windows update if you did not have the issue before.

Do you need that app to begin with?
What is the result of testing it with DEP & UAC disabled?

Another player with a similar, yet different issue had success with disabling RAM overclocking. So seeing that your PC is having issues with an overclocking app might be related.

Are you using XMP/EXPO aka is it enabled in BIOS? Did you try with those disabled?

Post Scriptum: I found out that disabling the kernel core isolation protection should "resolve" the issue. Best to keep that option available after trying DEP & UAC first.
yea, same problem, game crash when i open opera, dont let ur gpu went to 100% usage - is best solution
nothing u can do about, just trash anticheat that ruin everthing. Crashing ur game and OC. 2025 developers.

You actually can do something about it, if you read the posts properly.

I'm having the same issue. Random CTDs that I've never had before. Only game doing it and tried the most common solutions with no luck.

It is a different issue than above. Your pagefile is a little too low and you should double it. That put aside, you have the common ntdll issue. Try the performance tip with core and DEP/UAC - if you already tried repairing Windows with this https://www.nexusmods.com/helldivers2/mods/93

Therefore you have to check those three things in the guide.
