Apparently not.

The only thing that brought me back, was seeing these free items and talks of a backpack fed minigun. I would assume that I would need to open a support ticket to get the free items but that makes it way more of a hassle than it needs to be and turns me away from the game. I'll still do it to get the items, but I probably won't play it again unless my friends beg me, or the minigun comes out. Very disappointing SMH.

Same here. I sent them a ticket and explaining their official statement is apparently not true at all, combined with the previous discord message.All of this could be interpreted as a lie, if one wanted to.
I am close to being done aswell. Ill await their response and decide afterwards.

I redownloaded the game when they announced the Illuminates after not playing since October, but hadn't bothered launching the game yet due to holiday season being hectic. Launched the game the day after the announcement due to friends pestering me about it and seeing that the stuff looked pretty cool; and didn't get squat when I logged in. A little ridiculous to go "Hey here's some free goodies for EVERYONE" then go " lol nah free players and inactive players don't get it." when its the perfect incentive to help bring people back.

if anything, this just makes me less likely to play.

They have an article on their support page acknowledging the issue. Seems they'll be trying to address it after New Years.
