Extreme Inexplicable Lag

So I've been trying to get back into Helldivers 2 with my friends following the return of the Illuminate and everything but have been faced with practically unplayable lag, despite being able to run the game at 70+ fps under normal conditions at launch. Even now I am able to initially run the game at the target framerate before it falls after a few minutes. We have also collectively been facing an issue as a group where right as we are about to finish a mission (around 20-30 minutes in) the game freezes and crashes from some while it disconnects others. Could anyone help explain this?
My specs are Intel Core i5-10400, 32 gb ram, and my gpu is an AMD Radeon Rx 6600 XT.
I greatly appreciate any help someone can give.

Unfortunately there’s not much help to be given. Illuminate launch broke the servers a bit, and performance is inconsistent. Some people run better than ever, some crash every 5 minutes. Sucks to say this, but all you can do is wait till the next stability patch

Yeah, new content launch is a bit broken. Old content (bots and bugs) is better for me at least, the issue takes several missions to surface instead of immediately (the Illuminate missions became unplayable in minutes).
