Temporary solution if your mic doesn't work

I have seen a lot of posts about people's mics not working in HD2, and I've had the same issue since launch.

The only reliable "fix" I've found is to join a discord voice channel before launching HD2. Once you are on your ship, you can leave the voice channel and your mic should remain on for the rest of the play session.

I hope this helps, but I also hope Arrowhead fixes this day 1 bug that's still around for some reason.
