Mic STILL not working
Idk how many times I have to post this, but my mic still is not working since Escalation of Freedom. I have tried every single possible option in windows and within HD2, and nothing. I have seen others here and there with this issue, and no fix either. I am tired of writing this so I will not list everything, but chances are if you type "did you do X?" the answer will be yes.

it'd so easy to solve if we (on the PC) had like something weird called a 'input/output device option'
i know its apparently super hard to do that tho, that's why only every other game i ever played no matter the size or money of the dev team had it

100% agree. But even then I am not sure if that will fix the problem, since everything so far I have tried at least with in windows, should have fixed it. Tried 4 different microphones, disabling/enabling different ones, setting defaults, etc etc and nothing.

It feels really bad joining a game with 3 people using mics and you have to type, hoping they are paying attention to it, or dying trying to type something like "stalkers here" because you have to stop to type instead of calling it out. Last night I was playing with some lower levels, and one guy was whining about how bad the HALT is... He never switched it off stun rounds, despite me typing and telling him to switch it to flechettes and how to do it. Guess he didnt read lol

An option ingame would 100% solve this without any problems, look at discord for example, windows can have an entire different input device from discord and discord will still pick your mic up if its setup right, the same applies to all games that give you that option

And a lot of times windows does ♥♥♥♥ up the input device, if you got more than 1 option for a microphone or don’t use your headset constantly it’s gonna get mixed eventually

I've had this issue since day 1 of the game. My solution is to join a discord voice channel, then launch helldivers, then leave the discord. This keeps the mic from being shut off and it remains on even after leaving the voice channel.

I can give this a try, but I have played HD2 in discord with one friend, while playing with 2 randoms, and my mic still didnt seem to work.

The fact that this is how you have to get your mic to work is asinine

bump

I have a USB Blue Snowball microphone, and it's set to my default input for all of my applications. Everything else works fine, discord, CS2, etc. However, when it's Helldivers 2, people are not able to hear me at all. I can hear them just fine, but not me. It says i am talking when i push my Push-to-talk button, but they still hear nothing. Even when disabling PTT and going on open-mic, they can't hear me.

I have uninstalled the game directly using Revo Uninstaller, also removing all registry keys that were created and appdata folders. Once I reinstalled the game, i had to put all my settings back to where they were.

Issue still present. I went into my Control Panel > Sounds > Recording and i disabled anything that wasn't my microphone. Still it didn't work. I disabled "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in case another app was using the microphone and not allowing HD2 to use it. Nope. Still didn't work.

While I was running the game, I opened the volume mixer which shows me all of the apps that were running and using sound. I went to HD2 and changed my default input device from "default" to the specific microphone I was using. It seemed to work last week once I changed it, however it isn't working anymore.

You can try to do that if you want, I can't guarantee it's going to work.

So now, I am quite literally pulling out my hair. Communication is very important in this game and it seems odd that my Microphone can't even be heard.

People say to "check your Xbox Game Bar" to see if your default microphone is set to the proper one. I checked, and it is. It only gives me the one option anyways.

I submitted a ticket to Arrowhead because this whole situation is stupid. I am literally unable to speak to anyone. All settings are telling me that my microphone should be working fine.
If you have a channel 4 on your mic it wont work only channel 2
