Using 100% CPU and 0% GPU
I have an I7-9700K with a 2070 super and I’m seeing 100% CPU usage with literally 0% on the GPU even at low settings. I have the correct GPU in setting sand the game actually runs if nothing else is happening on my computer, but this seems not ideal.

Yeah I just tried the super sampling and it does decrease cpu load but sadly no GPU and plenty of stuttering doing that

The game is indeed very CPU intensive.
Okay boys, here's how settings work. When you use low settings, it puts all the load to your CPU, when you use high settings it puts all the load on your GPU. If you have a low-mid range pc, you need to figure out where to balance the settings from the medium setting, so the load is shared between your GPU and your CPU.

2070 super isn't a bad card, I would think you could run on high. If you can't get any of the load on your GPU I'd suggest checking your system GPU settings, updating your drivers, performing a "clean install" of GFX drivers, that will reset all settings to default which should solve the problem. After that if you still have problems, it's either a lack of ram, VM or you might need to do a fresh install of the game.

Good luck super citizen!
Thank you! After a clean install and playing around it’s looking better. I appreciate the explanation. Going to have to upgrade to not worry about it soon
The settings are not working like "lower = more CPU" at all. That's false.

I am sitting with an I9-9900K and a Sapphire Nitro 6800XT SE and my CPU barely hits 40% (it's around 30%~35% most of the times and spikes rarely to 40%) during intense fights full team with "ALL LOW" and my GPU is around 60% (i do have RENDER DISTANCE to HIGH so it uses a bit more CPU)..

Just tested that.

If you are getting a bad read on your GPU, use a different program to check it out. What are you using TaskManager? That program is a trash, it DOES NOT work at all. Use GPUZ or AFTERBURNER.
Also, there are 4 settings which currently eat the most FPS so consider turning them down.

Those settings are:

Motion blur = set to zero
Depth of field = off
Volumetric clouds = lowest
Reflective quality = lowest

Reflective quality is the biggest problem, this only makes water change from transparent mirrors to a murky sports drink, it's not immersion breaking if anything it's a cleaner look IMO.

After that if you want to squeeze a little more FPS out:

Shadows = low

Shadows you would tweak to your preference but generally the lower you set it the more frames you get back.

Glad that solved your problem. Now get out there and forcibly spread Democracy!

This is a common problem with Unreal Engine, they even warn against misusing the Nanite tech in the engine and using it carefully, but it's ultimately abused for slightly prettier graphics at a heavy cost of performance. I shouldn't be getting sub 60 FPS on any titles with a 7950x and a 3090 on low graphics.
welcome to the suck, helldiver.

would you like to know more?

I’m having a similar issue with my 2070 super with an i9-11900k
Can anybody give me some advice on settings on low CPU but decent GPU PC? I'm running on 4790k with 3080ti. I notice a significant difference in performance when running on the same GPU but 11700k CPU.

The CPU is too weak in comparison, it's normal to have CPU bottleneck... you can't do much about that... i do have the same CPU on an old PC where i play HD2 when i am out from home and it's around 60% CPU load and 100% GPU load

Idk how wrong someone could be but i guess you take the crown. It doesnt matter what settings you change, the game takes 100% of your cpu regardless. It doesnt care if you have a 4090 4k maxed settings nothing changes the cpu draw. Its ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by them from the getgo.
I will admit, im either debating upgrading to something thats not 4 core 4 thread, which doesnt stop me from playing: Hunt Showdown, 2042, Rust, For Honor, etc all my games... yet this one game suddenly demands I upgrade from an i3-8100 to a i7-8700... I Mean, its inevitable right? But the devs could have done something I just dont have the nerd points to understand what it is they missed/ didnt optimize.
this game is mostly cpu limited for me, I have never seen a game use so much cpu, even games with way more enemies use less cpu, it is not using cpu efficiently

runs at 90 fps and I get 150+ fps ins other games

pathetic optimization

It's inevitable, but it should be gradual.
