Have you tried shutting off ESET temporarily see if it works, just to make sure that's the cause overall?
I've easily spent 8-9 hours trying to make the game even launch, about 3x more than what i've actually played the game for.
7800X3D, R9 390, win11.
Yeah, well it's good to know the cause for sure, you can report it to ESET somehow I'm sure so they can mark it on their end as safe, the only thing I found online which I'm sure you have to is
From ESET website, I do not use ESET, but have seen a few other AV do this cuz of Themidia signature today.
Edit: there were in fact several game.dll in quarantine but I redownloaded the game to a different drive and then moved it back to the original drive and it already had the game.dll. Seems this time the AV didn't detect it but I'm still having the black screen issue so I'm at a loss again.
Edit 2: I added an exception to the AV to the game's downloading folder and the game's folder and verified files again. Fixed.
...\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2
...\steamapps\downloading
And it helped me, the game has been updated and is starting.
