Game won't launch after update

On Play click, game opens to black screen, no error message. Verified game files, 2 files were needing update. However...those files won't update, Disk Read Error. Drive is fine. Attempted uninstall/reinstall, same result.

same here. and my antivirus flags the files as suspicious and deletes them. so i'm assuming that may have something to do with it? I use ESET.

If you haven't tried restart the computer, and shut off any programs not needed just to see, like VPNs and stuff, may bot result in anything but a potential place to start, can go further and clear caches and stuff as well.

I can download that one file that's not working just fine if I turn off my antivirus, but if I turn it back on it deletes that same file instantly. so I would have to play with no antivirus, which is a problem. I haven't been able to play since the airburst update.

well, that's a common issue then. ESET is eating the file for some reason, registering it is Suspicious. for some unknown reason. possibly that's what's going on for all of us.

Ah yes, it's flagging them because of themida digital signing stuff, maybe flag HD2 folder as an exclusion then validate them again? It appears to be the game.dll and a recent change to it from what others have said.

That's an interesting one though not heard of hard crashes like that related to the issue yet.
