Unable to join friends lobby

Hi,

I'm unable to join any friend, and no one of my friend can join me. I'm unable to join a random game either.

Actually I'm unable to join any game at all, through steam or directly ingame from the social menu.

It just happened like that yesterday. Playing with friends, then game crashed, then totally unable to join any game. Today is the same deal, can't join any game.

I've toggled game privacy to public/friends and crossplay to on/off (multiple combinations of those two options).
I repaired the game (many times).
I've reinstalled the game (a few times).
I restarted steam (many times).
I rebooted my computer (a few times).

Nothing fixes it.

I've been trying to connect to a friend for half an hour. Turning off cross-play and setting privacy to friends only I was able to immediately connect to my friend.

We were having the same issue, my friend was on the same network as another player that we were attempting to join. we kept getting stuck on "establishing uplink to host ship" and eventually after some fiddling we got to "caching data". To fix this, he enabled port triggering to allow us to join on the network. It eventually said in game (on the O tab, or social) that he was on ship, and that we were finally able to join after messing with the game a bit. Not sure if this is a true fix, but hopefully it's helpful.

When joining a friends game .Same issue. I get "Connection error Unable to join game" when trying to join through steam. "Connection error Failed to join game lobby." through social. They did have 4 players, kicked one to let me in. Steam still shows 3 friends "+ 1" Playing with one other person. But their in game only has 3.

ATTENTION I have a solution for myself! First I reset my firewall settings and then restarted my PC.

Then when starting up all of the apps start to ask for permissions, in my case, ASUS motherboard software was asking for permission as it prioritizes certain apps for html connections. I exited the software and joined my friends with no problems!

Check your startup software and firewalls for anything out of the ordinary!

Just happened to me. The game crashed and now I can't join any lobby whatsoever. This sucks because I was having a good time earlier.

I had this problem and tried everything including turning off firewall or changing network settings. I think it is something in the computer blocking the ability to join.
I was able to fix this by running the game as administrator, which should bypass anything that has been blocking it previously.
If you're not sure how:
go into game files
click on bin
Right click on the application "Helldivers2"
Click on Properties, and go to compatibility
Click on run as administrator and select apply.
If this doesn't work, maybe there is an issue with permissions inside the administrator profile. But that's just my guess. I hope this helps.

Tried this, both me and my friend still had the exact same error of failed to join lobby.
