(Solved) Incredibly low FPS. Is my computer not powerful enough?
If you're finding this thread now, I found the solution. I 2 of my RAM sticks were not matching MHz with the other 2 RAM sticks. Removing the problematic 2 solved the issue completely. Thank you those who tried helping though :)

I've tried fixes from other threads, nothing seems to work. I got very few replies when I asked on reddit, maybe someone can help me here?

My specs are Ryzen 7 5800x, NVIDIA 4070 Ti, DirectX 12, 48 GB ram. The game is stored on the SSD.
Task manager Memory tab says 14.4/47.9 GB is being used.

XMP is turned on, to the only option available, which is Profile 1.

I am getting consistently over the past week 20-40 fps on planet, 40 fps steady on ship. The fps is so bad the audio sounds like velcro and the orbital laser is a strobe light.

I have set the rendering to ultra performance. I've set the overall quality to lowest. Any graphical setting is at the lowest. HDR is off.

V sync on/off makes no difference.

Depth of field is turned off. Motion blur off.

The game is set to prioritize high performance in windows settings.

Latest drivers installed. Then uninstalled. Then reinstalled again.

Game uinstalled/reinstalled.

Steam rebooted. Computer rebooted

Whether I pick my monitor's native resolution or the lowest possible resolution where I can physically count the squares on my screen, the fps does not change. Windowed, borderless, fullscreen. No change.

I'm told that my parts should let me have 100 fps "easily," but I don't think that's been the case for any game I play.

Am I doing something wrong?? Is my PC not powerful enough to handle the game? I don't know what else to try.

Steam forums in a nutshell is this is the only answer I will probably get. I shouldve put too little information so people would actually respond

Yes you should be getting way better fps
No there's no fix
I've personally seen 100+ fps and then suddenly the game tanks down to 10 fps and stays there until restart with worse hardware on a laptop

I've read this game tends to run CPUs pretty hard. is your cooling up to the task on your CPU and GPU? Assuming yes, and it's the anticheat or the game itself, but worth a shot.

How's your performance in any other CPU heavy games?

Edit: also what windows version are you on?

Temperature on the CPU wasn't hotter than it should be, and CPU usage when the game is high 90s in ship, close or at 100% usage most of the time when fighting enemies.
Tested on other games like RE4 Remake, Dead Space Remake, Ready or Not, and Battlefield 1, CPU usage is high, but it is definitely NOT using 100% CPU for most of the game time like it is in Helldivers.
Those other intensive games I don't get very high fps (especially RE4, where I have to run it on low to stay around 40 fps), but theyre not the 20 fps I get when playing helldivers 2.

I am running on windows 10.

No, since the patch the game has taken a performance hit. Frame times are spiking and causing stuttering and freezing. Not your machine.

Btw all potatoes are welcome to contribute to democracy :p
I don't think you mentioned the resolution you are running the game at. On a 5600x and 6950xt I get mid 80's fps at 3440x1440. All settings are default except AA and motion blur are turned off.

After the most recent patch, the performance has tanked and caused the game to stutter for me. I have tried so many different things short of reinstalling my whole OS. I'm just going to wait for the next patch to hopefully fix this, but good luck to you if you find a solution.

Yeah, something is off with your rig. First try SFC and DISM scans. I dont know how old your install of windows is, but i would consider reinstalling, then running SFC to tighten up after. I have a 4070ti and 13600k and i get 120-160 fps on low/medium settings in helldivers 2.

Same. Keep trying to restart the game (which can be impossible due to server issues). For some reason it will suddenly be ok, as long as you dont restart again. I have tried everything and if i keep trying to restart, it will suddenly be fine. I have also noticed the GPU and CPU usage will be all over the place when its acting up. I have NO idea why after continuously trying again "fixes" it...

I have noticed that sometimes the game freezes and stutters less after a couple of restarts, but never had I it completely fix it.

I literally mean keep restarting until is goes away completely. It can take quite a few.

Randomly this article was in my feed today. Maybe try the suggestions here?

My native resolution is 2560x1440 on a 165 hz LG Ultragear monitor.
Lower resolution does not increase fps

SFC showed some file corruption and was fixed. DISM showed no corruption.

The game now crashes if I land on a planet on a difficulty higher than easy. The game can't run more than 10 seconds of gameplay. Other games are still at lower fps no matter the graphics I choose for them.
I guess having a lot of good parts in a computer doesn't actually guarantee a good gaming experience.

I would 100% reinstall windows
