AMD CPU temps stay steady during gameplay
I have a AMD RYZEN 9 5900x with a GeForce etc 3060 gpu. The game is fun but my only complaint is CPU temps stay steady at 81c which I get nervous but I know that’s ok for an AMD side of things. My AIO water cooler is fine and getting plenty of airflow for my pc and other games I have don’t get this high at all. My other games cpu temps stay average in the 70’sc. I also have the games quality settings low or off and the frame rate limiter is set to 60. That’s my only complaint the game is CPU to heavy. Thanks

It's Helldivers 2. Same here. Intel CPUs are having the same issue.

This game melts CPUs and GPUs for some strange reason. It's a bug. Possibly a memory leak, but I cannot confirm.

All I know is, I have over 20 games installed and none of those games overheat my PC. Just Helldivers 2.

Report it to Arrowhead Studios here. It's all we can do:

If you are using the in-game fps limiter, this increases the CPU temps. It pushes my 5800X3D up to the 80c degrees as well. Without the FPS limiter the max temps hover in the 60's. But without it, the loading screen framerates spike up which is also bad.

running a 5800x3d on a darkrock pro 3 cooler, steady 60 here...
5900x on an AIO (Corsair H100i) top temp I get is 73C, that's after playing on difficulty 6 with 4 people and stuff going off everywhere.

Sounds like you are not using the in-game frame limiter. Try it and see the CPU temps soar.

14700k here, I get 30-40c on my GPU of a 4070 TI Super. 97c on my CPU. What the hell is going on

Are you using the in-game fps limiter? It increases the temps of your CPU.

I had a friend shared his settings with me and my temps did stay steady at 80c which is better than what it was but still. He looked at my settings and he said from what it looked like with everything set to low I was making my cpu working harder after I tried his settings it only stayed steady at 80c. BUT I minimized the game and I discovered something else. On the bottom right of your windows task bar in 11 and you click that arrow and see what apps are running in the backgound, I notice that gameguard was in there too I am wondering that is running in the background while playing the game. Very strange.. Hopefully they will fix the issue.

Gameguard runs while the game is active, there is no way around it. If you don't want to see it running then the only option is to not play the game.

Lower settings means less work is being off loaded to the GPU. So find that balance where your CPU and GPU are both working hard. If your GPU isn't pushing 90%+ usage during your time playing this game, then up those settings to give it more to do. The 5900x is more than capable of feeding that 3060.

Guys, use VSYNC instead of frame limiter. Your FPS will get nicely locked to your screen refresh rate and you will avoid CPU boiling bug.

That also requires the refresh rate to be set lower on faster gaming monitors, if the goal for example is to get to 60 fps maximum. And it adds some input lag too, but I guess it's the only way around the hot CPU issue right now.

Nah, you can limit FPS on driver level too, at least on Nvidia. Create Helldivers2 profile in your NVIDIA Control Panel, and look for option named: Max Frame Rate.
