Game Guard won't launch 153 error
Whenever I try to launch the game, I'm getting the 153 error message. It appears game guard isn't installed and won't launch. I've had steam check for file integrity and I'm getting the following message '1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired.'

Any ideas? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game etc but game guard not being installed seems to be the problem from what I can tell.

restart modem/router, unplugged it from power socket for 10 min. Replug and wait 2 min untill all connection connected.

Why would restarting the modem/router fix this? I've got internet access.

Look into the gamefiles. Under Helldivers 2\tools you will find the installer for gameguard. Maybe that can help you.
Is there a GameGuard.des file in helldivers2/bin folder?
Doesn't the antivirus delete that file?
Try making an exception for the game folder.

So when I start that installer for gameguard, it launches the windows pop up that says 'do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device'. I say yes and then it closes and nothing happens.

There's no gameguard.des file in that folder, just 3 .erl files.

Look in the bin folder, not inside the GameGuard folder.
You will find GameGuard.des in the same folder as helldivers2.exe.
If that file does not exist, error 153 will occur.
The antivirus seems to be deleting the file.
If you turn it off for a while or make an exception and have Steam check the file integrity, GameGuard.des will be restored.

For GGSetup, so do I.
This is because only the anti-cheat service is installed and immediately terminated.
