Friends constantly timing out

Whenever I try to play with people on my friends list the constantly time out, usually just before extraction and its really annoying.

I know its not either of our internet connections too because we play other p2p games just fine

is this a known issue that I have to wait for a patch for or is there something I can do to fix it
