Why do I hear myself in my headset? Audio is screwed up as a result

Only game that does this. Ive defaulted my input and output devices to my microphone and headset. My headset does not have an integrated microphone, trying to understand why I can hear myself even when my microphone is unplugged.

You must have another microphone if it's picking up your voice unplugged. Try checking your steam settings for microphone default or your windows
