Unable to hear Voice Chat
I am able to utilize my mic during games. Fellow Democracy spreaders have typed to me that they can hear me, but I cannot hear anyone. I have noticed that the "hot-mic" icon lights up next to my name when I speak, but I have never seen it appear next to another Helldiver's name.

I have updated all audiol video drivers. Lemme know if someone smarter than I has fixed this.

FOR SUPER EARTH!!!

I have the exact same issue. I have put in a support ticket and will update here if I hear anything back.. For the record, I am using a Corsair Virtuoso XT headset. My son, whom plays 15 feet away, is using the same headset on a nearly identical computer and has no issues.

Amazing! I hope we hear back soon!
Same issue, Can talk but cannot hear responses. Only know they are responding because friends tell me. Not even seeing the voice to text.

I've been reading around and am wondering if this might be the issue: Are you using VoiceMeeter by any chance?

I am and thought I've never had this issue with it before and I am very confident in how I have it set up (with virtual inputs and such) I have been wondering if it is part of the problem. I also just recently looked at the Windows volume mixer and there are two Helldivers 2 entries (both set to the appropriate VM input) but one has the slider locked to the lowest value of "1" and I cannot change it though the other is maxxed out; not sure if that is related or not.

Something to check is to make sure your mic and audio are set as default (communication) device in windows sound options.

i use voicemeeterbannana and had the same issues. resolved by setting voicemeter aux in/out to default communications in windows sound settings.
What you guys have explained makes total sense to me and I tried every combo (I have VM Potato with the extra VB cables) as default and it didn't fix the issue. I even tried shutting down VM and running the game exclusively through Windows default configurations (speakers/microphone) set to default communication devices and still no luck.

That said, I'm relatively sure VM could be the problem as I see that Helldivers does try to automatically route certain things to AUX and even VAIO3 for some strange reason. Shame there isn't just a sound selection within the audio menus. My fault for having a complex system setup, I guess, but this is the first time I've ever had an issue in like 5 or more years of using VoiceMeeter.

is anyone having the opposite happen? i can hear everyone but they cant hear me. ive made sure my mic is set as default in settings and even checked the privacy settings for it. made sure my sound settings were correct in game. and still nothing. even updated my drivers. mic works on literally everything else but Helldivers.

Are you guys able to see when someone else is talking? My audio icon pops up that I'm talking. I know my voice is coming through as I've tested it with my brother. But I cant even see the icon for anyone else talking in game. I am also using VMbanana to push the audio through to my streaming/recording PC through an HD60 x.

No idea what happened, but voice is getting buggy. It works for a few minutes then as soon as I drop with friends, some of us cannot hear others. This is new. Personally, I have not changes any settings. We are now using Steam Voice Chat so it makes joining random groups a bit harder.

No, I only know they are talking because my friends tell me I'm not hearing them. I get no icon indication they are speaking in game. Others seem to have been able to fix the Voicemeeter issue but I haven't yet.

Can you point us in the direction of some of the fixes?

Well, I was referring to the fixes listed in this discussion:

I have seen other posts where these were sufficient to fix the issue but it was not sufficient for me. At this point I think I'll have to wait for them to patch in a audio device selection in-game. :crying_yeti:

Okay, so I think I just fixed it because I just heard someone in game for the first time ever. I did one of the "set as default communication device" things but this time I did it through control panel > hardware and sound > Sound and applied the default sound and communication device (separately) to the VM VAIO output through that menu. I'd tried that before but I was only doing it through the System > Sound and it didn't seem to work.

I will also note that under System > Sound > Volume Mixer I have the output device set to "VoiceMeeter VAIO" and then all instances of HELLDIVERS 2 have the output set to "VoiceMeeter VAIO" and the input to my microphone.

I guess the fix really is just to make sure that every single thing is set to the output you are using in VoiceMeeter and then make sure that output is set to the default device in the Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound menu not just the "system > sound" menu. Once I had everything lined up it started working... well at least I heard someone once... but they weren't talkative, haha.

These videos might be of help too -- the first one is what gave me pause to try the control panel way:

Good luck, gamers. Wish this could be pinned for all VoiceMeeter Users.
