Game crashing on joining people

My game freezes on receiving data before crashing when I try to join anyone's lobby. Happens around 70 percent of the times I try to join a game. Is anyone else having this issue?
Things I've tried:
- Checking integrity of game files
- Reinstalling
- Restarting pc
- Disabling crossplay
The issues been persisting since around 2 weeks ago. I have to get extremely lucky to even be able to join my friends.

SOLUTION - Spoiler alert!
I had this issue too for few days, to resolve it i needed to uninstall all VPNs i had on my pc.

Necroing this post I'm having the exact same issue. Uninstalling the VPN isn't an option. Deactivating it doesn't work.
