Stuck walking when trying to go forward

I'm on mouse/keyboard, holding W ends up with me walking forward slowly. When I let go, the game seems to recognize that I hit S to move backwards, as my character turns around. I've cleaned out both my mouse and keyboard to see if that was the issue, but this is only in Helldivers. None of the other games I play register this. This only started happening a couple days ago as well.
Has anyone else had this issue or any ides on how I might fix it?

Yeah having the same issue. Tried both wired and wireless keyboards, mechanical and membrane. I've reinstalled, validated the integrity of the game files. Its been months and it makes the game unplayable.

Try this.
Open steam library -> right click on helldrivers 2 -> properties -> controller -> turn off steam input.

Yup, disconnect controllers and/or disable Steam Input. Sounds like a drifting stick.
