Direct 3D graphics card issue?
Downloaded the game, launches fine. I meet and pass all minimum spec requirements, and im running an Nvidia GeForce GTX1650, that supports DirectX 12. I'm a Linux user, running POP OS (basically Ubuntu) and the game has no issue launching (Been trying it and Helldivers 2 runs quite seamlessly on most Steam Proton versions, if it wasnt for this fatal error). No DLL issue or anything like that. I just keep getting a fatal error prompt that tells me "Requires a graphics card that supports at least Direct3D Feature Level 12_0". There is literally footage on youtube of other people running this game on the exact same card I have. Not sure what the issue is. please dont tell me to use --use d3d11. tried it and it doesnt work. I have tried forcing compatibility with every version of proton available on steam, and none of those work. Ive updated my drivers, my OS, reinstalled the game, verified game files, turned steam overlay on and off, even tried big picture mode and the issue stayed.
I successfully installed Proton GE v 9-1, which was recommend in this discussion: https://steamcommunity.com/app/553850/discussions/1/7599331177364451325/. Fully integrated into Steam, and forced Helldivers 2 to use it. Still having the same issue. I am running the program as an Administrator as well. No idea what is causing this, my graphics card should work and supports Direct X 12. help would be appreciated.
Edit: Also attempted putting --use-d3d11 into launch options as well as forcing the use of Proton GE 9-1, which worked for another user in the discussion linked above. No dice.

I have the same issue in a GTX 1060, I’m running Fedora 39 and have tired all the same compatibility modes also to no avail

For me the failure is immediate as per my playtime :/
Hey @gabestew and @boy meets world trade center are you still having the issue?
If so, i might have a work around for you.
TL:DR:
- only works if you have a CPU with embedded GPU AND a separate GPU card
- go to user_settings.config
- change "render_backend = 0" to "render_backend = 1"
- In Game options will still display the embedded GPU, but it will be using the GPU card
- Can confirm that it also works on Windows

I have just switched to Ubuntu and found that since my CPU has an embedded GPU, Helldivers would use the embedded GPU rather than my NVIDIA RTX GPU.
I tried all the fixes online as well and nothing worked, but this worked for me.
- go into the folder:
/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/553850/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Arrowhead/Helldivers2
- Open the user_settings.config file.
- Find "render_backend = 0" and change to "render_backend = 1"
This seems to force Helldivers to use the second GPU.

Hope this works for you :)
