100% CPU utilization on a 11600K at 4.5ghz constant.... in the SHIP.
Something is seriously wrong (and also potentially seriously right?), I can say this with a degree of confidence because this behaviour is not consistent. The past two patches have drastically increased my CPU usage in the ship to the point where sometimes I will be CPU bottlenecked in the ship. The only way this could be correct is if there is background PSO (dx12 combined shaders) compilation going on, because alternatively I sit at about 70% CPU usage in the ship now in the best case... even this is a little absurd and there is an insane reliance on the CPU for the rendering or anti-cheat, between this and the enemy increases on the higher difficulties (I like this though), my CPU is just getting thrashed during large engagements on difficulty 7+ now, where I would normally maintain 50fps, sometimes now I'm dropping as low as 30, even though my settings are lower than they were when my fps was almost double in the edge cases.

I recognise some of the impressive technical feats this game achieved, but I don't know if my friends and I can handle any more patches before the game becomes unplayable at the difficulty levels we enjoy.

Would be nice if we could get some developer comments on this.

I need to check it later, but whenever I start HD2 my PC fans go into "spaceship flying into space" mode. Kind of an indicator for bad usage I'd say

Despite that, no lags or anything. However, I have better specs than OP

That's on par with mine. I'm at 50% on the ship with OCed 5800x3d. In mission is fine, though. 90ish fps nearly maxed out 1440. Terrible optimization all around.
But I can't play, it's 100% broken after update.

Same here, this all happened after the last 2 updates and now the game is literally unplayable.
5800x, 6700xt, i was playing at 1440p in high/ultra with constant 60-80fps; now i get 40fps and the gpu load drops to 50% while the cpu goes to 100%.

Yeah I have honestly never seen anything like this before, I don't understand what could possibly create a CPU bottleneck while on the ship, or how my CPU is pumping more watts than a lightbulb to send render calls.

Since I know a lot of people seem to think it's thermal throttling on their laptop (with the current state of things post plundervolt, that probably is also the case) , it's been a while since I've done a tuning, but under load in game my GPU and CPU both don't go over 75c, so that's definitely not the case.

Also since making this post, despite there being no updates, I have yet to experience a CPU bottleneck in the ship, but my overall CPU usage sits at around 75 to 80%, that cannot be the intended headroom for gameplay computation.

there is no thermal issue, the patch is garbage thats all and im sick of it
I'm glad I'm not the only friend, I really try everything but I've had serious serious problems... it's a game that I like and it honestly makes me sad to have these problems... I have a 3060ti rz 7 5800x and 64g of ram... .the game is on an m.2 so... I don't lack muscle but this game ended up crashing causing serious problems and recordings having to restart the PC because it cannot be recovered.

Personnaly it's not that i'm at 100% utilisitation but when I go on mission (and sometime just in the ship) my cpu go to 100°C (It's the max temperature my captor can say and for those who don't know celsius it's really hot) and i'm experiencing lags as much (even in difficulty 2). And yes I check ALL other problem (thermic paste, fans, malware, etc) but it's the only game where it keep going so hot. (I have an intel i7 10700KF so better than the recommended setup)
