Can't Add Friends Over Crossplay

I am playing on PC and I cannot add a friend who's playing on PS5. I can send the request, but they can't accept it, and vice versa. After having looked it up, there is basically no fix or workaround. This is an egregiously bad issue for a game that is supposed to be crossplay. This really needs to get their attention, they need to fix this immediately.

There's an issue with this where if you have a player name that is either too short or too long, it won't allow you to add friends across the platforms. Changing the name won't help either as the game will keep using your previous name.

Basically your Steam name must meet the requirements on the PS5 network and if it doesn't, you are out of luck.

You'd either have to wait for Sony to fix the issue on their Playstation Network, or the devs to fix the name change issue.

The steam name may have been a problem in itself, but it's not necessarily the issue. I've never had a long name and still can't add.

Both my username and the person I'm trying to add have 8 character alphanumeric usernames, that can't be the issue. It would be nice of them to at least acknowledge the issue...

You guys have made PSN accounts and linked your Steam accounts to those through the game, right?

You have to have a PSN account and link it in order to play the game.

Have they sincerely not addressed this publicly yet? Like, it's ultimately my fault for falling for the hype and allowing my friends to talk me into paying full price for it, but the devs seriously need to acknowledge this. Because out of all the other controversies everyone else is currently ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about, they pale in comparison to people literally not being able to use a basic feature that allows them to play the game with their friends. Especially with a heavily focused co-op game like this.

Yes, doesn't make a difference. Its a known issue. Problem is there has been no response about it, that's what people are waiting for.

It personally seems like a huge issue when you sell a game for co-op with cross play.... and it doesn't work. Seems like a priority fix outside of server issues. At this point we just want to hear the companies plans on the issue as selling a game as Cross-play is misleading in the current state, because it technically doesn't have cross-play as of now.

It does have crossplay as you can end up playing with random PS5 players, it's the friend invites that don't work.

The in-game friend codes from the social menu don't work for you two? I just added some friends through it this past weekend.

The in game friend codes allow you to send a request, but no matter how many times you hit accept, it doesn't go through. Happened both on my end and theirs when I was sending a friend request. Also spent like an hour trying to find a random lobby that wasnt full and would show up on both of our screens. Once we managed that, sent a friend request using recent players, and that did nothing. This is with the name changed, its with crossplay on, its with public lobbies, its with multiple restarts of the game, the pc and the ps5 and over the course of a couple of days now.

Neither friend codes nor adding recently played with works for me, whether the other person is on PS5 or PC
