I'm pretty sure the CPU is not the issue here, but the way the game uses those cores (and according to the recommended specs I should be well above average) since sometimes when im changing settings, the fps drop to 50 as if the program had lost focus, and I need to alt+tab once or twice to get em back up. Disabling my second screen seems to keep the game in focus more consistently though. Also none of my cores really max out in game
Now i get 100% cpu utilization during missions, the gpus drops to 40/50, and the game just stutters.
For all the morons saying "this is your PC issues", the game was running fine before the updates how can it be our PCs.
I really really hope that the devs DO focus on the technical aspect of the game cause performane wise is quite the mess. Maybe not all at once, but progressively

@OP. You might be hitting your FPS cap or vsync. At ship game actually renders a lot, since it also renders planets and other ship at orbit behind the bridge window.
I don't think it's any of those either. I get like way more FPSs on the ship than on a mission.
The thing that has helped me the most has been to use NVIDIA's NIS to upscale the game to 2K from 1920x1440 (odd choice, but it's the next higher res below 2k), and not use the game's upscaler which is dogwater tbh
