I also noticed sometimes when i first log in and i do a mission my ship gets full of random players, which is fine with me but after they leave or if i leave, i'll NEVER have another player join me (even with sos beacon on) until i restart the game. This is really kneecapping for a game that is clearly meant to be CO-OP.
It is currently not possible to manage the PS friends list because accepting a friend request via the friend code does not result in a response. If a player without a working PS friends list tries to join a Steam friend (SHIFT+TAB ingame to start Steam Overlay), they will receive an error stating that they cannot join the game because the lobby is private.
However, it is possible to join a game via Steam without a working PS friends list as long as the host has set privacy to public and crossplay to active in the Helldivers options. The host's settings are crucial for clients whose PS friends list is not working.
This does not fix the PS friends list bug, but is a workaround for anyone trying to join a game via the Steam friends list.
I contacted support and will come back when i get a reply from them.
On a side note i had 4 crashes in the middle of a mission on angel's venture and thought it was the game. It's the mission itself or the terrain on the planet maybe because when i did another one it didn't crash anymore. It was also the second part of the operation.
However, I must point out that I don't currently have any PS players on my friends list. So I can't say whether friend requests work across platforms. Currently, however, they seem to work PC-wide, as long as you make the privacy settings in Steam.
