Cant play with PS or Steam friends
Cannot play with either PS or Steam friends

When I try to join the Steam player via Steam, I always get a warning that his lobby is private.

If I try to add him to the friends list using a PS friend code, he is displayed after entering the friend code, but nothing happens after clicking the "Accept" button. I have the same problem with players I have recently played with. I have allowed crossplay in the settings and set everything to public.

I have the exact same thing. I found 2 random guys yesterday and we had a great time and loads of fun playing together but i can't join their lobby, although i don't know if this is a choice on their end because i can't even add them on anything like steam for example. I can't accept their friend request either because when i click accept it doesn't even do anything.

I also noticed sometimes when i first log in and i do a mission my ship gets full of random players, which is fine with me but after they leave or if i leave, i'll NEVER have another player join me (even with sos beacon on) until i restart the game. This is really kneecapping for a game that is clearly meant to be CO-OP.

The problem does not seem to be with the Steam friends list but exclusively with the PS friends list. By PS friends list I mean the friends list in Helldivers II under the social tab in the options.

It is currently not possible to manage the PS friends list because accepting a friend request via the friend code does not result in a response. If a player without a working PS friends list tries to join a Steam friend (SHIFT+TAB ingame to start Steam Overlay), they will receive an error stating that they cannot join the game because the lobby is private.

However, it is possible to join a game via Steam without a working PS friends list as long as the host has set privacy to public and crossplay to active in the Helldivers options. The host's settings are crucial for clients whose PS friends list is not working.

This does not fix the PS friends list bug, but is a workaround for anyone trying to join a game via the Steam friends list.

That might work but in my case I didn't find those people on steam, i found them in game so I couldn't make new friends. My regular friends are fascist communist enemies of managed democracy and don't want to liberate malevelon creek with me.

I contacted support and will come back when i get a reply from them.

On a side note i had 4 crashes in the middle of a mission on angel's venture and thought it was the game. It's the mission itself or the terrain on the planet maybe because when i did another one it didn't crash anymore. It was also the second part of the operation.

Interim status: In the meantime, all PC players that I have added appear in the friends list in Helldivers II under "Social". But in order for them to appear in the friends list, you have to change "My profile" from "Friends only" to "Public" in the privacy settings in Steam. Once you have done this, the PC players will appear on the friends list in Helldivers II. As soon as you reverse the settings in Steam, the friends will disappear from the list again. These settings in Steam are therefore directly related.

However, I must point out that I don't currently have any PS players on my friends list. So I can't say whether friend requests work across platforms. Currently, however, they seem to work PC-wide, as long as you make the privacy settings in Steam.

The question is how were you able to add them in the first place? Were they from Steam or were they from the game itself?
