Friends list not working

Yes I've tried the whole system restarts, leaving and rejoining won't happen as everyone is in here now, annd to top it off, when my steam friends attempt to join me.. they get a good ol' "private session" message. I'm at the end of my tether and have no idea what the hell to do.

Me and a friend have the same problem. No friends on friendlist and can't even invite them back. On the other side beeing invited into a session is not a problem. Reinstalled the whole game but without any progress on this front. can't serve democracy this way...

only workaround I've found, is to set my lobby to public. at which point they can join, it is not ideal though as I would prefer an actual friends list to invite them along.. I am attempting a reinstall myself, but the earlier comment gives me very little hope of such working.

I did hear something once about there being issues with "non-standard characters" in names.
Maybe remove the . from your name? That's all I can think of

To anyone still having this issue!! Go into your steam profile settings then > Edit Profile > Privacy Settings. Make sure your Friends List is PUBLIC!!! This is really silly but it needs to be public for it to see your steam friends in game!!!

That's a pretty bad fix for a game like this, this literally is the only game I've played that needed my friends list set to public, That is ridiculous.

We found that turning on cross play and joining thru steam let us send requests, it was manual after which if you want it off turn crossplay off

I can't believe i'm only just finding this out, I've been trying to find a fix for a month and this is the fix. Bad of Helldivers to do that but thanks bro!
