BUG: Helldivers2 window keeps minimising and maximising in constant loop
Have the application window set to Fullscreen and on occasion the window will get stuck in a loop of switching between being windowed and fullscreen.

On starting up Helldivers2 the application window is ALWAYS in window mode in that it starts with a titlebar visible. I have to click on the window and flick alt-tab couple of times to get the window to Fullscreen. This is when the loop of despair occurs.

Cant believe the developers are having difficulty with creating a directx window to open in Fullscreen mode. This is one of the first things you learn to program when creating a dx12 application.

I also have the same problem sometimes but it occurs randomly at any point during the gameplay. The only fix is to control alt delete and open the task manager there. Then tab back in.
Very odd bug, mildly annoying.

For me, I could ctrl+alt+del and click task manager but I could not bring task manager to the front to use it, as helldivers2 would not allow it.

All I could do was click start to bring up start menu and rick click my account and log out. Logging out force-closes any open application.

since it's a DX12 game, there's not such thing as exclusive Fullscreen mode like in DX11 - I think arrowhead left the option there because some people force the game to use DX11 which does have an exclusive fullscreen mode.
If you're running Windows 11 then you should have checked 'optimizations for windows games' set to ON (in Windows Graphics settings) since this means you can run the 'borderless windowed mode' without performance loss.

Thanks for your reply.

In my post I didn't mention exclusive mode. I was referring to the window going full screen, be that in Fullscreen mode or Borderless mode. The difficulty I was having is that neither of these modes do as their name suggests - produce a window which occupies the full screen without a titlebar.

The fullscreen mode was flipping between what I was looking for, a fullscreen window with no trimmings and a window with a window title, in a crazy loop.

The borderless mode would startup and failed to go fullscreen leaving the titlebar on display. I had to alt-tab to get it to go fullscreen.

I'm not sure if the above is still the case currently.

did u check ur config file in appdata? is it on read only? Wild guess here coz i'm personally using a config file i downloaded from some youtube page claiming some dude on some site made it and gives good fps boost. (turns out to just be 2 settings that game won't let u toggle below medium unless through config file)
